I have an older Kenmore 12.8 freezer, obtained 2nd hand with no manuals. There are 3 lights (L to R - amber, green, red) and a switch on the lid. Can anyone tell me what they're for?
I cannot find any manual or information on the 3 lights. I would assume that the green light means everything is OK, the red means current problem, and the amber means manual defrost is due.

Pretty sure that the slide is for winter and summer operation, you are rite, the 3 position is the cold level and the 3 lights (Yellow, Red, Green). the Yellow indicates a caution,"" not at temp or faulty""the Red indicates the unit is active and the Green indicates at temp and operating correct. Kenmore Frostless Upright freezer model# 23971. The alarm sounded, all contents in freezer is frozen solid. We turned the alarm off, but the red light continues to blink. How do you reset the alarm and stop the red light from flashing? It has been 3 days now and every time we have check to see if the contents has started to defrost, there is no signs of defrosting, everything inside of the freezer remains frozen solid.
try a total defrost,to clear any internal ice(every 12 months)then switch on and if you have a rapid freeze button leave on for 24 hours to get back to normal operating temp.if you have hard ice around the door seals then you have an air leak which you must sort out(try using a hot cloth to warm seals back into shape.....seals should fit all round, all the time.
