I have a mitsubishi ws 55511 rear projection tv. Yesterday it stoped powering on and the green power light continuously blinks. I have read a couple posts which says that it is the death light and that the...

Age of unit: About 7 years.
Rear Projection HD set, Mitsubishi WS-55511
Nature of problem: Blinking green light of death. Upon plugging the set back in after vacation, the green LED on the front of the set would blink continuously and the set would not turn on. I ordered the blinking green light kit from tvrepairkits.com after seeing this link on a tech forum, suggesting the capacitors were bad on the DM board inside the DM module. The kit arrived within days of ordering. The online instuctions were very detailed and could be followed even by a layman such as myself. Very detailed with lots of photos. My DM module was simpler to remove than the instructions indicated. It simply slid out after about five cables were disconnected from other boards. The module itself is the silver box all the way to the left when looking into the rear of the TV (from the rear of course). There is a plastic guard that surround all the input connections (coaxial connections, home theater control inputs, etc). This is removed with 3 screws. After all the cables to this module are unplugged from other circuit boards, the module will slide out towards you. Then you take the cover off (including the clamp where all the cables are routed into the module) and you can see the DM board (it is labled as such and has 7 capacitors. None of the capacitors were bulged or otherwise defective looking as other posters have reported. Changed them all anyway. Buckled everything up and plugged the set back in. The blinking light started as it always had. It should normally go out in about a minute after plugging in to wall. I really didn't hold out a lot of hope that it would go out....and then....it went out! I pushed the power button and she fired right up! What a thrill! Including shipping, it cost me $45.90 to fix a set I paid about 3000 bucks for 7 years ago and was loathe to just throw away. I certainly wasn't going to pay nearly a thousand bucks to fix this set. It may be a little bulky, but the picture is beautiful as well as the sound system. You guys are great. A very reasonably priced gamble that worked. Watching a movie in HD while I type this, good to have my TV back after almost two weeks without it. I actually can't believe I did it!

Ws55511 power outage. now fast green timer blink. reset had no effect. Was connected to 110v with a surge protector, so not sure why she is unhappy.

the capacitors in the DM module have gone bad. these are solder in parts. if you know how to solder, it could be an easy fix, if not, contact your local repair center for a 150-300 $ repair. if you can solder, replace all the bulged 1000uf 16v caps with 680uf 16v caps and your problem will be solved.

Green light turns on and 2 seconds later it shuts off

The DM board has gone bad and not letting the tv boot. Stdby supply neeeds to be looked into, This board in in a metal box generally on the left side of the input connections panel when seen from behind. Can cost $ 140 to 280 to get professionally repaired depending on the problem.

The power outage went out yesterday and my tv wont turn on

Hi,
Most likely it is capacitors on the dm board that have gone bad. This is a fairly common problem and has been addressed on fixya many times. If you know someone who is good with soldering and technically incline or even an honest electronics guy then the repair is quite cheap. If you have any other questions please let me know. if its not the capacitors on the DM supply then its a problem with the whole DM assembly that part usually is around 300$. So you may want to consider purchasing a new tv. Trying the 7 caps on the dm supply board shouldn't cost much if it takes anything more then that. I would sell the tv on craigslist or ebay and recoup as much as you can towards your next tv.
thank you,

Lg 42'' plasma 720p no picture

This is not good. Was your tv unplugged or just power button off when you left for vacation. PlasmaTvs are highly susceptible to damage from power surges caused by lighting. Leave unplugged for at least five minutes then plug back in and see if this helps.

Green light blinks and cant turn tv on

If this is a WS-55511, it is probably caused by a DM module. Unfortunately, it is not available nor does Mitsubishi offer a rebuild option. Mitsubishi's phone# 1-800-332-2119.
Give them a call and you never know what they may offer you.
Hope this helps,

Thats an easy fix. The capacitors on the DM are known to fail . You can get the WS48511 - WS65511 DM repair kit at the following link which contains the replacement capacitors and the instructions on how to do the repair on CD which also contains the Service Manual
