Some programs seem to be harder than others to get sound working. If you are using basic Windows sound, look around because there are several places you can mute the mics. I think there are 3 places on my old XP computer, at least 2 on this Win 10. I also found there is a place you can click in some programs to get sound to the system. Also check the source - it might be set to system instead of line.
go to SOUND RECORDER found at start, accessories. record it and play. if you hear output sound. thats it ...you have built-in mic and this is a only mic capturing
chk mic, lose cable in **** plug test with other mic .. also test with Ext speaker.. do u get any reading on meter / LED display during RX? does PA work? otherwise your sound chip is dead
The SM58 is a dynamic mic. It's actually a very simple device. Thus, it doesn't "degrade". If an SM58 fails, it usually fails catastrophically. Now, the problem for is that you don't know if the failure is in the handle (which includes a transformer) or the cartridge).
You can order a replacement cartridge from Shure and solder it in place, but might be better for you to just send the mic to Shure. I believe they will just replace the mic with a new one for their service fee.
I found the answer. Rosetta Stone has a problem detecting the mics if
the speaker input is not in someway connected to the mic. I'm not
exactly sure how it works, but I don't care and neither should you.
Follow these steps each time you want to use it and you should be fine. *I'm on Vista, but this should work for every one. 1. Open Control Panel 2. Open Hardware and Sound 3.Open Sound 4.Set Line 1 as your Default Speaker 5. Refresh the Mic list *All of your mics should now show up. 6. In Rosetta Stone, apply the mic you want and finish the setup. 7.Start whatever language you're using and switch back to the Sound menu. 8.Set whatever speaker you want to use as default. *Rosetta Stone will continue to work fine until you close it, switch Users, or remove the mic.
In
short you have to set the default speaker to LINE 1 to get the mics to
appear. Then when you apply the settings switch the default speaker
back.
If you have one front panel and one back panel mic input port, Front panel is active by default on most systems. Try front first. if that is ok..or even if not, click on sound icon near clock (double click) select input/recording. unmute the mic or check it as input. thanks
This MIGHT be a driver related problem, but it could also be build problem. Are using the front panel outlets or the rear on-board outlets?
If its the front ones make sure they are going to the right sockets on the motherboard.. if its rear outlets from the motherboard then its definitely a driver issue.
However, check where the CD audio cable is going to on the M/B first.
Mmmm... The wires and the assembly is broken?
Sounds like you might have a trashed mic.
You can try to find a Shure dealer or a good music store to have them take a look at it.
I would suggest getting a new mic cartridge.
