That thing with clearing the cash sounded like a best solution but unfortunately didn't work, still cant get the fix on my location. It's really weird first couple of days it worked just fine now I can't get a fix on my location. I already changed the phone but same things over again :)Thanks guys for the efforts, but maybe this phone doesn't have that good gps chip and that all...

For some reason or another I can't the GPS to function like a normal GPS would. It would show me something like i'm looking at a radar.

G1 Gps Problem Fix - I recently had the same issues with the gps giving me the location of cell towers instead of actual location. After looking around the forums, i found the fix and it worked.
Clear you maps cache by going into your application data.
Settings : Applications : Manage Applications : Maps : then push "clear data"
Make sure both your wireless and gps are turned ON
Turn off Phone
Take it outside somewhere that is clear of obstructions (like a large parking lot, or field)
Turn on phone
Once on, press maps
Let it sit in one spot for about 5-10 min, then press my location.
It should find you in just a few seconds. Mine took about 30 seconds.
This should fix most problems you are having.

Have you made sure that the GPS Receiver is enabled in the Connectivity menus ? the phone doesnt come with it turned on out of the box. just like Wifi and bluetooth have to be enabled. make sure the GPS is set to ON, Make sure your in a 3G/EDGE area and try to locate your position, it should work fine then !

To Turn on your GPS, Go into Settings, goto Security and Location, then select "Enable GPS Satellites" and "Use Wireless Networks"

You dont have to Enable the GPS Satellites to get a fix on your location, you can use your standard network to get a rough idea of where you are, enabling the GPS satellites gives you a more accurate fix on your location, at the cost of battery life of course !

    Hope this helps

If the gps does not get a fix even after 10 minutes and the gps icon keeps on blinking (do not forget to turn on the gps) then:
1 - turn off the phone
2 - turn on the phone
Ensure you have a clear view on the sky (outside).
In my case it got a gps-fix in a view minutes (use the "here i am" program). The gps icon stops blinking if there is a fix.

G1 charging issue

Blame it on weather maybe, I have this problem often. I found that if you don't try and charge it ALL the time, it may work better. I have even created a cradle to keep it from moving while charging.
The car chargers have this problem more.
Let me know if this helps.

Connecting to google server

Hello,

You need to be set up for the G1 data plan through T-Mobile. This is the 24.99 plan for g1 data + 400 texts, or 34.99 for g1 data and unlimited texts. If you are setup through online billing, you can do this through the website by clicking "Account>Add/Change services". If you do not have web billing, you can contact billing by phone.

Note - it can take up to 24 hours to become active, but on mine, it only took 10 minutes.

GPS not working that well

The bars are used to signify cell service. If your GPS is having problems, verify there is a clear view of the sky from your device.

T Mobile G1 POP3/IMAP Mail doesn't Work

What is the problem with your POP3/IMAP ?

Obviously, make sure that you are inputting the correct settings for your Chosen Email address, make sure the email provider Allows the use of the POP3/IMAP Clients for their email services, and make sure that you have a good strong connection to the internet.

Remember, the POP3/IMAP Client on the G1 does not support PUSH Email at this time, Meaning the emails will not automatically appear in your Mail inbox (unlike the G1 Gmail Client, which Supports Push Email).

G1 gps not working

have you actually enabled the G1's GPS receiver within the phone ?
the GPS is not switched on out of the box aswell as Wifi and Bluetooth.
Try going into the settings and enabling the GPS Satellite receiver and then use the maps application to see if the Satellites can Triangulate your position and find where your at !

hope this helps :D

IPhone 3g vs HTC G1

I phone misses Some really important functionality.

The Virtual keyboard, while innovative and good looking, lacks the functionality of a proper QWERTY Keyboard, The contracts in the UK and possibly the US for the iPhone are an absolute Rip off, and the applications in the Appstore arent nothing special.

now on the Other hand
The T mobile G1 IMO is way better thn the iphone. it has better hardware Specs such as better camera, Full Physical Qwerty Keyboard and Proper Google GPS etc.
also because the OS is completely open source, absolutely any application can be made to work on the phone ! anything you can think of. if you want something creating, chances are it will be added to the OS at some point through the amazing Android Market !

Also the T-mobile contract prices are Way more better than that of the iPhone. and the customisation of the G1 way outperforms that of the iPhone !
