If your 1/2" gas pipe is at the location, it should be stubbed out with a shutoff valve. the valve could be a 1/2" female pipe thread that your gas flex line will attach to-the flex line should have an adapter to fit the 1/2" female pipe thread, if the valve ia flare fitting the adapter is not used. use thread compound on the pipe threads, not teflon tape when working with gas, but nothing is required on a flare fitting.

How to install electric clothes dryer ?

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-240-volt-outlets.html
Usually there are 3 screws in a row. The cord has 3 wires in a row.
Connect either outside wire to either outside screw. Connect center wire to center screw.
Look at type of plug on cord.

Odor for dryer

I would recommend a Service technician be called. You could have too much pressure coming through the gas valve which is the major concern.
The unit should have safety switches that should shut off the gas if the ignitor is slow to light. The odor could be from cobwebs or a piece of clothing could have rolled through the drum liner and fallen into the workings of the machine. This is a very remote possibility.
Sometimes the plastic parts in bras can work loose and slip past the holes in the drum and onto the burner beneath the drum.
Remember that you are hooked up to a gasline, so do not try to pull the unit away from the wall.

We just bought an older house with a jenn air cook top but the pilots are out. How do we light them?

First, you need to look below the cooktop to find the gasline. There is supposed to be a shutoff valve on this gasline. Turn the handle so it is parallel with the gasline (perpendicular is closed) to open it. Before lighting anything, smell around high and low around the cooktop and make sure you do not smell any gas. You can also spray soapy water on all the gasline fittings to detect leaks by looking for bubbles that form. If all is safe, using a long butane lighter, light the pilots for the cooktop. There should be 1 pilot for every 2 burners. You will probably have to remove the grates and metal spill covers to light the pilots. The pilot should be approx 3/8" tall or less. Test each burner individually to make sure they light off the pilot. If they do not, you may need to clean the vertical holes on the side of the burner (where the lighting tunnel connects) by poking them clean with a needle. If the horizontal burner holes are clogged, clean them as well. If there is also a built-in wall gas oven, be sure to light that pilot on that as well. Good luck. Douglas

How do you get into the dryer to change the natural gas connector to a propane connection?

Not sure what country you are in, so I am unsure that the same conditions apply.

The gasline from the meter must be interrupted. Propane bottles connection pipe can then be brazed to the copper line . By law a propane regulator must be fitted between the bottle and the gqas line going to the dryer.

This must be fitted by a licensed gas fitter ( plumber) so if any problems occur your insurance will pay out on fire or other faults.

Placing the propane bottle line directly to the dryer without a regulator and inside a building is dangerous and unlawful, as most dryers are not vented correctly to deal with propane.

Drum won't turn

Your dryer uses a belt wound around a spring loaded pulley and, around the middle of the drum and, around the motor pulley to turn the drum. If you feel capable of fixing ths yourself: Unplug the dryer, if it is gas or, electric. if it is gas: shut off the gas line to the dryer then remove the gasline; next pull the dryer out from the wall and, remove the back panel. Once you do this you will see that the belt has fallen off both the motor pulley and, the spring tension pulley. put the belt back on so that the belt is tight around the drum and, the drum will turn again.

It fires and then goes out after a little bit and then wonk fire again

That can happen if there is air in the gasline, which could be if the gasline(s) were recently installed or replaced, or if the dryer was just installed. If that is the case, it should purge itself after a few more attempts. If not the case, and the dryer has been working fine until now, then there's a problem within the dryer. Improper servicing of the burner assembly can pose an explosion hazard. You should consult a servicer to do the repairs.
