The Batteries in these units like all rechargeable batteries only have a certain number of times they can be charged and discharged before begining to fail. Your only option is to replace the battery with a new one. They are cheap to purchase off eBay and YouTube has Videos detailing how to change them.

Try a manual reset by holding the center button and the play button together for at least 10-15 seconds, this should reset your iPod and should refresh the battery,
In future do not let your battery run flat completely always keep a charge, and lastly charge through a wall charger and not from the usb port,

My ipod classic 30gb is completely out of power and wont start up or charge even when i plug it into a computer. this happened after i tried using an mp3 player charger to charge it. please help.

The high probability is that this charger (mp3) has fried the internal circuits of your iPod. I hate to give bad news, Have it checked by a service agency and evaluate cost of repair against new model,

How do i unlock ipod30gb?

to fix this you will need to erase all the data on the ipod(s).

plug the ipod into the computer using the included usb cable. open itunes (if it doesn't open automatically) in the column on the left side of the window there is an icon showing your ipod's name. click on it then click on the button that says "restore ipod"

WARNING: this will erase all the content on the ipod (you can put it back on later)

it will ask you to confirm. hit ok and keep your ipod plugged in as it restores it to it original state. pick the language you prefer and then load your music back on the device

Ipod 30gb does not go "Do not disconnect"!

put it on a charger overnite, or for at least 4 hours. if u can help it, DO NOT use ur cp as a charger. After u do this it should go to "do not disconnect" the next time you plug it in to your computer.

30GB iPod video, connected it to a USB charger, now it's screwed.

Few months ago i have same problem with my apple ipod classic 30GB.

My USB cable is short so computer show that, USB device canot be recognized. I haver replaced my cable. Problem will be in USB slot of ipod.

Replace cable. Problem will be solve.

Your can charge your ipod by connecting it to your computer with your caple. Also, you can charge it in your docking station (I'm sorry if you meant that that was your charger/if you don't have one. Hooking it up to your computer will work best.

This is for: Ekse. I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but you might need to reed more carefully. The person with the the problem, that wants to charge their ipod, but they don't have their charger, cleary states in big BOLD letters that their ipod is WHITE. I'm trying to say, that your quote: "Is your ipod the ipod video black," wasn't nessacary.
