SOURCE: Targus mouse not recognized

What is the OS of your computer? This Targus mouse would work with Win 98, Win 2000 and Win XP. Vista was not mentioned. And if you are running Windows Vista for you laptop, then that could be the reason why it was not recognized by the computer.

Is this the wireless optical mouse? If yes, you need to follow the steps below to isolate the problem:

1. Connect the USB receiver into different USB ports of the computer.
2. Replace the batteries with the fresh ones.
3. Try connecting the mouse into different computer to see if you've got a defective mouse.

If you've tried everything and got the same problem, you may need to refer to the manufacturer, because I'm not sure if this mouse is a Plug-n-Play device or if it needs a driver.

Have a great day!

You can find drivers for almost everything at the manufacturer's website...however, it appears that most of the mice use the standard windows driver, so I'm also sending you a link for general installation and troubleshooting. http://targus.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/646

My targus wireless mouse

I had this happen to me after reprogramming my tv remote too close to my laptop and mouse. Try resetting the reciever and then the mouse by pushing the reset buttons on each one while they are plugged in ( reciever first, then the mouse ).
