I would like to know how to disassemble, tighten the loose screws with thread lock, and reassemble.

Thanks for the info. This is actually a Tablet/Laptop Computer. The screen rotates on 1 center hing. I believe it is just loose screws because this is a known issue with this model but, this model seems pretty complex to get to the hing and tighten the screws.

Faulty hinges cannot be adjusted or tightened. If the the mounting screws are loose then these can be tightened.

It sounds like you have worn, loose or cut wires at or near your laptops hinges. You need to contact gateway if it is under warranty or the purchase place if you have an extended warranty through them. If it's out of warranty you will have to find a technician that repairs gateway laptops or pay for gateway to fix it.

My Gateway P-7805U Laptop will not stay turned off. Every time I do a shutdown the computer turns itself back on within 10-15 minutes.

All laptop has a small push switch near the hinges between the LCD to the base.

Make sure this switch is operating smoothly.

A malfunction or loose switch will not trigger the correct condition to the laptop.

first try tightening the hinge which means dissamly of the laptop, or check ebay or gateway parts for replacement hinges.

Lenovo Ideapad Y510 Hinge problem

hinges take alot of stress as they have to be quite tight to hold the screen in a certain position, alot of laptops can have over tightened hinges and cause splitting in the housing. Hinges can quite often come loose.
Make sure all screws are present around the hinge area and if you can tighten up your hinges.
If the hinges are badly damage you can buy replacments for a few $ off of ebay

This may help and may not. It seems there are lots of people having the same problem you are. The best way to get a replacement seems to buy a cheap junked out Gateway and use the hinge from it. However I would be very careful doing this because the one you buy may not have a good hinge. As many people there are with these issues I would contact Gateway to see if they had a replacement part and would ask to file an official complaint. In addition here is a number to a laptop repair company, they will help you find the most cost effective way to fix your laptop. They are good I have used them for parts before. 1 (800) 999-4409

search "gateway e-155c lcd swivel assembly" on google or any other search engine and you will find the part that you need.
You will need to do your own replacement, but that is the part that will fix your problem

You can purchase replacement hinges and hinge covers here: http://www.mundocorp.com/m275.html They may be a bit of work to replace. But short of replacing the hinge assembly, it doesn't sound like that is going to move.
