When I turn on my camera (canon power shot A420) the LCD screen is blank and reads 'Lens Error, Restart camera'. Can you please help me resolve this problem! Thank you
This would be because there is something stuck in the lens..could be the rubber protection stuck not enabling your lens to pop bback into position.i tried gently tapping the lens an gently twisting it to enable movement in my lens

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Same problem. The lens is stuck in the zoom position. When the camera is turned on, the lens moves a just afraction like it want to fully open or close, then the camera beeps and prompts with the "Lens Error" Restart Camera. Solutions?
Elaine, did you accidentally hit the "Disp." button on the back of your camera (upper left button, just below the mode selection wheel). This button turns the LCD screen on or off while taking pictures to save batteries.
