My Amana Air Command 80 SSE IIQ Gas Furnace started up for a few seconds the shut down with no indicator light. I went up and switched disconnect off and on, then checked all connections and fuse on circuit board, all good. Closed up unit and it started running. Good for a day or so then repeat. I replaced circuit board about 6 months ago.

Have you cleaned your flame sensor? Take a piece of emery cloth or a piece of light sand paper and sand it a little. It is located in the burner section and it is usually to the left side of the unit and it looks like a L. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Amana Air Command 80, 20

Hello Bob,
Welcome to fixya,

You said, Amana Air Command 80, 20 years old.
Electronic ignition.
Furnace does not start.
Good power to furnace.
Thermostat properly set.
Where do I start looking?

Sounds like you possibly have one or more bad jets if the unit is a gas furnace!
Let me know how it goes.

WOW, listen to this story!
I understand you are looking for the solution to fix your furnace your self.
But I want to tell you my story about my smart wife and our furnace.
When we moved into this house the furnace was 20 years old and she suggested that we put a new one that it will save us money.
I laughed at her and replied if it's not broken why fix it!
Six years later it finally broke down and I replaced the whole furnace and central air unit with a new one.
Our utility bill went down $100 dollars a month!
That's $7200. that I lost over 6 years due to not respecting my wife's power of reasoning!
If you can afford it or can get financing replace any unit 20 years old and it will pay for it self.
Can you imaging $1200. a year for 20 years is $24,000 dollars I'm saving with a new and efficient unit.
Do the math!!!!!!!!!

Thank You,
Huuum, Hope I gave you some good fatherly advice.

SOURCE: I have a Amana air

This sounds like your condenser contactor, contacts are stuck. They weld together if an ant or other debree get between the contacts. Turn off the electric breaker to the outdoor unit as if the outdoor unit runs without the indoor unit running you may damage your outdoor unit compressor.
I would suggest you call a service company. The part should run retail @ 30 to 40 dollars then the service call charge. This repair should take less than 1/2 hour.

Turn off breaker. Turn it back on. If furnace is completely dead still, change your transformer. It's cheap..

How do i reset power to thermostat from amana furnace is there a reset for controls?

The manual says it should automatically reset. However to manual reset the unit it says to "interrupt" the power supply. --which I think means unplug/turn off electric to unit for 20 seconds. If you do not have the manual go the manuf website and download it. --Also, this is a Goodman unit. If it does not reset something else it wrong that is preventing the unit from starting for safety reasons.

Amana Air Command 80 SSE gas furnace will not stay running

In the path of the flame on the last burner that starts, there will be a small rod. That rod is the flame sensor. Take a scrub pad and polish it. Also check the electrical connection that goes back to the circuit board. Disconnect any ground wire from the circuit board to furnace cabinet, sand it and replace it.

Amana Gas furnace, Air Command 80 SV. Does not ignite. The blower turns on, then gas valve opens. I can hear a mechanical switch close, which is probably the igniter control. But no spark, no flame. ...

Buy a new ignitor here; The Ignitor Store. Or talk an Amana dealer/Contractor to sell you one. They can range from 15 to 35 bucks! Depending on their mark-up. Give them your model number, and or ignitor part number. Their simple to change out, good luck, please contact if you have any questions.
