i have the identical problem. WMP shows the disc as full of my music but the device itsself does not display them. I cannot get WMP to delete or reinstall files from WMP.
It appears that the device is not compatible with VISTA or with WMP11. I have recently had to replace my PC. As virtually all new PCs are now shipped with Vista rather than XP, it means your Phillips MP3 becomes instantly obsolets.
I understand that Phillips dont intend to provide a fix. If so, this shows an arogant contempt for their customers I shall not be buying Phillips products in future.i have the identical problem. if u used window media player its will mess up your mp3 by duplicating songs and not leting u play songs. What i do is connect it to the computer and it should pop up. DONT open window media player. Open the files and add your music by dragging them into your mp3 from another folder. This only works if you have a different folder of music. It should work. If all your music is in Widows media player it wont work. Also try deleting all your music from ur mp3 but copy your musice onto your computer first. Good luck i hope i helped.
check your file type that you are putting into the mp3 player. This is a common mistake. Most accept MP3 but not other file types such as WMA from windows media player or AAC from Itunes. If all that is good then check where on the mp3's file system the files went using my computer. If they arent in the right folders than they might not show up
This player was made before the advent of the DRM license system. You will have to use mp3 files or UNPROTECTED WMA's. DRM-license-protected WMA's - which is what most music services use - will not work on this player.
Check the format of the music you are playing and if you have music that requires the license it will load the music but not play. It will show up as a file error.
check the file types from you music the shaker only plays MP3 and PCM WAV file types. You may have WMA (if u used windows media player) which will not play on the shaker (i had this same ploblem btw) you can easly find free music file converter software to change these files to mp3 or wav types (which i did), or you could rerip to songs from a cd and tell the windows media player to rip the files as mp3 types instead of the default wma format
from the windows media player widow :
tools >> options >> Rip Music >> under format select mp3 (theres a wav option but i used the mp3 option to be safe)
do not use the sync feature it will automatically convert your files to to wma (why? i dont know) instead copy the files directly from the folder that contains them :
right click the file you need to put on the player select open file location drag and drop to the player (or copy/paste if you want).
hope this helped =P
For the 10 second play problem the player has been set to intro mode, which only will play the first 10 seconds of each song. While it is playing, press the mode button ( bottom right ) once. This brings up the play sub-menu. It should show " repeat" as the first item. Press mode button again and it should show "intro". Now press either the top or middle buttons on the right side once, this shows all repeat choices again, using the same buttons scroll through them till "normal" is highlighted. Then press the bottom right button again. This shoudl put it back in normal play mode and return to the music screen.
