What is upnp on my router?

Its a networking architecture that allows your router to auto configure with other devices that also use upnp. I normally leave this disabled. Some security vulnerabilities have been found with the protocol.

UPnP aka Universal Plug and Play

Universal Plug and Play allows Windows to automatically configure the Router for various Internet applications.

If you want to use UPnP, keep the default setting Enabled. Otherwise, select Disabled.

We have just got new router zyxel p-660HW-T1v2 had problems getting laptop to configure but playstation wont configure to router iv been at this for 4 days spoke to digiweb isp and trying to follow port...

It may most likely be UPnP related (enabling UPnP should solve the issue). Also, if the unit has a Default Server function, you could try making his PS3 the Default Server behind the device.

Anything above & beyond this advice though will need to go through your ISP.

How to configure the UPNP in panasonic camera? If we need access from the internet should we register in viewnet.com?

To access your camera from the Internet you will need to configure uPnP (or configure port forwarding manually) and register with some kind of dns service like viewnetcam (or know your home's external IP address assigned by your Internet Service Provider).

1. To configure uPnP on your camera, look in the network settings for an automatic network configuration option - this will trigger the camera to talk to your router using uPnP to set up port forwarding. The default for one camera is to use port 80 for the outside port and something like 192.168.1.253 for the internal network address (internal to your home only). uPnP will try to configure the second and third cameras to external ports 50000 or 50001. My router failed to configure the 3rd camera so I had to manually add a port forwarding option from my router's admin pages. To note, you can configure all port forwarding manually from within the router admin pages. Just list the internal network address to your camera (like 192.168.2.253) and specify a different port for each camera (like 50000 to 50000). You can then access your camera by typing in 192.168.2.253:5000

2. Then, you should register with viewnetcam.com. Adding your cameras on viewnetcam will give you access to them from outside your house without you having to know the IP address to your home network. You will simply type in your viewnetcam url with ":" and the port number (like username.viewnetcam.com:50000).

Note: When trying to access your camera from outside your home (or even pinging your router from outside your home), you need to know the IP address of your home. This is assigned by your Internet Service Provided and can change every time you reboot your modem. Services like viewnetcam keep track of the IP address to your home and update it automatically when it changes (your camera will communicate with Viewnetcam servers occasionally to update the IP address). All you have to remember is one constant URL (the viewnetcam url) and you can get to your cameras!

Where do i find UPnP on the the fvs318 netgear prosafe VPN firewall router, i cant find it on the main configuration menu

The netgear prosafe VPN router is a high-end component ment for business and corporate use and does not support UPnP

UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) allows programs accessing your router (limewire, utorrent, etc...) to auto configure the security settings on your router which would be harmful to a business/corp. network.

I need to configure my d-link for wow downloader

To configure D-Link DI-624 Wi-Fi access point to work with BitTorrent you have several options. One of them is to use trigger ports.
Steps to follow:
  1. Open web control panel of D-Link DI-624 by connecting to http://192.168.0.1 (this is default direction, which can be changed by administrator).
  2. Enter login and password for administrator. Default login for administrator is admin.
  3. Go to Advanced, select Applications.
  4. In Applications screen:
    1. Check Enabled.
    2. Fill BitTorrent in Name.
    3. In Trigger Port put 6881 and 6999.
    4. In Trigger Type select TCP.
    5. In Public Port put 6881-6999.
    6. In Public Type select TCP.
    7. Press Apply.
  5. The DI-624 will reboot.
Now you can use BitTorrent from any computer on both LAN and WLAN local networks in automatic way.
BitTornado Setup If you use latest experimental BitTornado client you can give a good use toUniversal Plug and Play (UPnP). You just need to enable UPnP on D-Link DI-624 and BitTornado will work on any computer in your local network without any requiered intervention from your part.
In BitTornado:
  1. Run BitTornado
  2. Click on Prefs
  3. Locate UPnP Port Forwarding and select type1 (fast)
In DI-624:
  1. Log in as administrator
  2. Open Tools (main menu)
  3. Select Misc. on the left
  4. Locate UPNP Settings and select Enabled
