That should work. but make sure that the voltage form the wires are DC and not AC. In addition, depending on the original fan the RPM's maybe different. If you do replace with a computer fan just make sure the flow feels reasonably good.
SOURCE: Tv brightness
the light engine is that part that displays the picture on the screen. its like a filmprojector. if you need the complete LE, you run in about 1200-1600 dollars.Mitsubishi DLP's are known for collecting great amounts of dust, so try to clean the filters first and remove all the dust you can find.be careful,do not use a vaccuum as they can damage the electronics and the fans.....

Did your replace lamp come on the screen or did you lose picture? Just because the LED indicator suggest replace lamp it doesn't mean it needs it. If your pix was dull or loss of brightness then replace it, if not then just reset your lamp timer, check your owners manual for instructions.

The lamp is not that exspensive you should be able to get one for around $150 and you can replace it yourself.
The lamp can be bought as a lamp or you can order the entire cartridge, I would suggest the cartridge, unless you are handy at taking things apart as the cartridge can be tricky to take apart without breaking it. The only difference will be the cost. It is your choice. The Mitsubishi part number is 915P020010
You can google this and find many places to purchase the lamp or cartridge on line.
Replacing the Lamp Cartridge Tool needed: Phillips screwdriver
1. Turn the television off and unplug the AC cord.
2. Remove the front speaker grill by gently pulling on each side. The grill will snap out.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the three screws (one on the left and two on the right side) that hold the recessed plastic cover in place.
4. Remove the plastic cover and set aside with the screws.
5. After removing the cover, you will be able to see the lamp cartridge. With the screwdriver, loosen the threes crews of the cartridge. The three screws will not completely remove.
6. Gently grasp the metal handle and pull straight out (towardsyou).
7. Insert the new lamp cartridge securely into the TV. Do not touch the glass surface of the cartridge.
8. With the screwdriver, tighten the screws on the lamp cartridge.
9. Replace the plastic cover and screws.
10. Snap the speaker grill back into place by pushing it into place on each side with the palm of your hand.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
