My husband bought this eMachines 270 about 8 or 9 years ago, so it only has USB1 ports. Most things work fine in them, but when I insert a recent USB stick or the connector for our new Fuji camera the computer immediately reboots and continues doing so until the USB device is removed.

Dear inVaUSA, I followed your action and contacted 1-800-SAMSUNG but did not fare as well as you did. I was told there is not a firmware update nor a patch to fix the "New Device Not Found USB1 Power Overload" even after I read your post to the support representative I was dealing with. She told me that it is a PlayStation issue even though I have never connected any USB device to any USB Port on my Samsung TV. Could I Please trouble you to send me the firmware update you received from Samsung `in a private message or to my email address if you prefer. Thank you!
Before you plan to return make sure you have done some or all of this things first:
1. Did you reboot after you installed the os? 2. Did you make sure that if its a USB mouse that it is securely connected to the USB port ? 3. Were you able to move your mouse without any problem at all before the software installation ? 4. Have you had this problem before the installation of OS ? 5. Have you done all your software and windows updates ? 6. Will the mouse work when booting into Safe Mode ( pressing F8 during re-boot before Windows Vista loads) If it does then your softwares need to be updated. 7. Did you check you device manager to see that theres no yellow exclamation anywhere in the Mice and othert pointing devices or under the USB controller section? 8. Is there a legacy USB port to be activated on your computer BIOS ?
If the installation caused your mouse to be frozen then try and uninstall the Enterprise 2007 by using your keyboard and tab to the programs uninstall.
If your mouse still doesn't move after doing all of the above things then try another new USB mouse. Sometimes you may have to wait for several seconds (even up to a minute for new usb mouse detection) before the USB mouse cursor will move. If the second new USB mouse still wont work then return it to where you bought it as it could be faulty usb connector plz do rate the solution if got help
Hi, providing this Thinkpad you are talking about was built around seven years ago, it'll only have the USB 1.0 which means a slower data transfer rate. Which is normal for this age of laptop
please re-insert the cable of the usb to the motherboard. i believe that there are 4 pins on usb1. now if this usb1 doesn't work, try the usb2. be careful when inserting the cable.
First thing you need to do is to know that the USB ports of your laptop is really working. Insert another usb devices or storage such a flash disk. If the flash disk being inserted is not recognized by the system then the usb port you had inserted is malfunctioning or it is defective. But if the other usb devices like the flash disk is working then your new bought mouse is defective. Try to plug the usb mouse to the other ports available in your laptop.
You don't map the Universal Serial Buss. You just hook all the devices to the connection points (ports). The computer find them by device, MAC address, etc., not by port number. You can hook up to 127 devices to a computer, and the computer will talk to all of them regardless the physical point of connection. That's the reason, you can buy USB hubs with 4 or more connection points that plug into an USB port (how do you map that?). USB1 - 6 is for you to know how many devices are connected to the computer via USB at a certain time. So if your printer is configured for USB1, what ever port you plug that printer in, will be USB1.
There are two type of portsin USB enabled PC one is Type USB1 & Second is Type USB2. USB2 is faster and is compatible with most new devices. most of the flash drives when attached to USB1 prompt a message to attach to USB2 port to work faster. I am using E6 & it works fine with my Laptop & Desktop. So plug the cable into a different USB.

Either the usb is shorted or a device is shorted. U can unplug the usb devices one at a time and reboot to find it or U can open the pc up and unplug the usb connections to the mb. If all the devices R unplugged and it still does it, then it's repair shop time or replacement time.
