Light switch It is my belief that the light switch for the refrigerator is over extending and stopping the door from being able to close. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Correct, you can either take off the refrig door and place asmall shim under the hinge raising it an 1/8 inch or soor you can slightly pry down the light switch from the liner, and fill the small gap created with a small bead of silicone

Top Refrigerator not cooling and light not working

  1. Check the power source: Make sure the refrigerator is properly plugged in and that the outlet is working.
  2. Check the circuit breaker: If the circuit breaker has tripped, reset it and see if the refrigerator starts cooling again.
  3. Check the light bulb: If the light bulb is burned out, replace it with a new one of the same wattage.
  4. Check the door gasket: If the door gasket is damaged or not sealing properly, it could cause the refrigerator to stop cooling. Check the gasket for any tears, cracks, or gaps and replace it if necessary.
  5. Check the temperature control: Make sure the temperature control is set to the proper setting.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's best to call a professional appliance repair service to diagnose and fix the problem.
Regarding the beeping, if your refrigerator has an alarm system, it may be beeping because the door was left open for an extended period of time, causing the temperature inside to rise. In this case, simply close the door and the beeping should stop. However, if the beeping continues even after the door is closed, it could indicate a more serious issue and a professional appliance repair service should be called.

Dometic refregerator 2652, the inside refer. light and the check light on the front blink when i open the refrigerator door. then stops a bout 20 sec. after closing the door

Sounds like a possible loose connection somewhere that is shaking when the door is opened. Check the main plug/power connection to the refrigerator for corrosion or just looseness. The inside light is controlled by a door switch so you may have a connection problem there also.

The "open door" light constantly blinks Door is fully closed.

Hello Gregg;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

It would be nice to have a model number. The model number. It is located on a label on the fresh food section wall near the top.

There re several different door switches. Some are mechanical and some are magnet.

Open the doo, push on the light switch. Does the light go out?
If not it is a bad switch.

Food storage problem - You food must be within the confines of the racks. If they extend beyond your door will not fully close.

Send me a model number so I can see what you have.

Frigidaire FFHS2612LS4 wont stop beeping

Hey Brandon, this is JK. Thank you for your post. I understand that your refrigerator is beeping none stop. When the door(s) have been opened for longer than 10 minutes, an audio alarm sounds and the interior lights shut off. This protects the liner from melting due to the heat produced by the light bulbs. The alarm will sound every two minutes until the doors are closed. Once the doors are closed, the alarm will reset. The refrigerator will also beep on some models to inform the user that the door has been left open and the cool air is escaping. Check to make certain that the gaskets on both doors have no gaps and that the appliance is maintaining the desired temperature. If all of these suggestions pan out and the problem still persist, think about what may have happened prior to this occurrence. For instance, did you notice any error codes, odors, or other strange functions prior to this issue? If you are still having these issues and can think of anything in particular, please feel free to reconnect.
Hope this helps!

We have a Jenn-Air French door refrigerator. It's about 4 years old. It is maintaining its temperature fine. But all of a sudden, about 3 hours ago, there is a constant sound similar to a squeaky...

This is most likely a door open alarm caused by a problem with the door / light switch. Locate the light switch plunger and depress it. The light should go off. If the light does not go off the door switch has failed. The door switch is removed by sliding a thin bladed knife along the side if the switch and releasing the locking tab. The freezer door only has one locking tab on one side of the switch. The fresh food compartment door switch has 2 locking tabs on opposing sides of the switch. You unlock the tab(s) and remove the switch. The fresh food compartment door switch has 2 wires on it that close when the door is closed. The freezer door switch has 3 terminals on it. One terminal is C common. One is NO Normally open and once is NC normally closed. The NC terminal will have continuity to C with the punger extended. The NO contact will have continuity to C only when the plunger is depressed.

I think you have a bad door switch. If the freezer door switch fails the unit will stop making ice.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Refrigerater door won't close because lightswitch stays extended in on position. Door switch doesn't have food nor debris on it to prevent it from being pushed in when door tries to close.

I'd remove the light switch. IT should pop out of the side. You should unplug the refrigerator first, pry switch out. Tape up terminals. Push wires into hole where you can still reach them. Plug back in and be sure door closes. If all that works, buy a new switch and re-install

Refrigerator inside light will not go out when door closes

This can be due to one of two things, either the door is not hitting the light switch when it closes or the light switch is bad.

Locate the switch, it is usually on the top of the cabinet inside the refrigerator, push the switch, if the light does not go out then the switch is bad, if the light goes out the door needs adjusted so it will hit the switch when it closes. Typically this can be done by loosening the hinges and holding the door in place while someone tightens the hinges back up.

Refrigerator lights stay on when doors close

The switch and possibly the circuits may be faulty. Certainly the switch should be replaced. Test wire to circuits.

Light stays on when door is closed

The GE GSL22JFPH refrigerator door gets lower over time. When it gets low enough the light stays on when the door closes. There is a vertical bolt along the hinge line. Push down the hinged plastic "hinge cover" under the door right on the hinge line and you can get a wrench on the bolt to raise the door. I have to do this every 6 months/
