Power button Yes, we have this 27'' Sharp tv just recently given to us and the power button is knocked out to where the only thing seen is a hole. I tried tinkering with it and got in there an pressed down on a little square silver piece with a black button on top of it in an attempt to turn on the tv, since that is the way inside there to be able to turn the tv on without the actual button on the outside. I have gotten no response: the tv will NOT turn on at all! And since i'm not a big electronics repair kind of person, i don't know what to do. Is the tube out, is the tv dead, or is there something i can still do for it to be able to work right? Have you had any recent power outages? Try a different outlet of possible and see if the tv responds. If it doesn't try a hard reset.
The reset is at the back to the TV, so turn the back of the TV out.
2. Locate the Power plug at the back to the TV.
3. Then near the Power plug there should be a small hole, use a paper clip or a needle and push into that hole for a brief period.
4. Now start the TV and see if the settings has going back to the factory default.
On the front of the TV you should be able to press both channel up and down at the same time and it will give you access to the TV menu. Once in the menu use the channel and volume up and down buttons to navigate.
Anything can be repaired. But the cost can be a problem. The most commond thing to happen is the power supply gets knocked out (fixable problem), but I have seen the whole tv get knocked (not cost effective) out as well. The only way to find out is to let a repair shop look at it.
If your friend is being honest, and why shouldnt he, and the set was knocked over, I'll bet there is now a small crack in the main board. Cracks in boards due to dropping or "knocking over" usually occur next to the flyback transformer or tuner. Cracks in boards are very easy to fix so if you do not have experience working inside TV's then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

Most probably your antinna is not reciving TV signals properly.Try to adjust it in a right direction at a proper height, also adjust frequency of various channel of Direct TV through menu button.

notice if your buttons on the tv work properly. sometimes the curcit board that holds the lights,ir ect, falls off from inside and then they cant be seen or work
