I turn on the computer and monitor.the monitor powered up the computer fans came on even the cpu fan but wouldnt boot not even a flicker on the screen. the hard drive light comes on and stays on. ive tried a new power suply,new ram,and a new hard drive. anny help would be awsome thanks
If your display is LCD, sometimes, the backlight behind the LCD won't light up, but the LCD might be working. You might try shining a very, very bright light on the screen to see if there is an image being produced. Sometimes I get lucky and find a loose or bad connector on the backlight connector. Sometimes The built-in display isn't selected on laptops.
I have a HP Pavilion 505n. After I d/l an HP BIOS udate, I receve "CPU Fan failed. Hit F2 to coninute or systme will power off in 5 seconds." Fan is running. Any posible solutions

There could be a number of causes. Do you hear any beeps when the computer starts up? Try seating all the chips in the motherboard. That means, apply pressure to each individual chip on the motherboard with your finger or thumb. The goal is to make sure each chip is securely attached to the board. Sometimes, heat or new h/w installs partially "pop" some of the chips out of the motherboard - causing the circuitry to be disconnected...
When a computer doesn't start up, there's a set of "Beep codes" which can provide an initial diagnosis. Although, the codes may differ based on the CPU manufacterer, here's a list of some of the common ones:

High frequency beeeps while running Overheated CPU Check the CPU fan for proper operation. Check the case for proper air flow.
Repeating High/Low CPU Either the CPU is not seated properly or the CPU is damaged. May also be due to excess heat. Check the CPU fan or BIOS settings for proper fan speed.

I've got the same problem, though it's on an eMachines T6534 w/ onboard Nvidia GeForce 6100 chipset (aka graphics card).
I have tried: using a different monitor that I know for sure works, used a PCI display card from another working PC, pushed lightly on all MoBo chips to seat them properly (all that I could find, pretty sure I got them all), and switched the only RAM card to another available slot (there's 4 in total). During the seating process, the only PCI Modem card present was slightly out of it's socket when I had pushed down, so now it's in place.
Thinking the problem was solved, I reconnected everything and actually did manage to get the display to show for a few seconds. It appears to have hung where it shows the giant lowercase 'e'. On that same screen, were two options, one for F2 and the other for F10, can't remember what they were for though. I tried both keys, and nothing happens, the CAPS lock on the keyboard didn't show up, so I'm not sure if the keyboard doesn't work with that PC or if it just froze up. I know for sure the mouse and keyboard work.
So thinking the display would work by shutting down with the button held in and turning it back on, when it turns back on, nothing shows anymore! Since I have tried a different video source, it could be just be the MoBo.
Is it possible that the drivers were messed with? Before attempting anything video-related, I had taken out the HDD, put it into my external encloser and connected it via USB to scan both partitions for any viruses/spyware. Three were found on the main partition, while 1 was found on the 2nd (recovery partition). The 3 viruses, were actually Trojans. While this is a spur of the moment theory, it could be that while one or more of the Trojan's payload were Backdoors, allowing the attacker to mess with the display drivers. Though it seems unlikely, seeing as the amount of access an attacker can have with a Backdoor, not all attackers are the same, they each have different plans.
One more thing to add to this lengthy post, the names of the Trojans (scanned with ZoneAlarm Security Suite 7.0.483.000):

...it comes on, but there is a break in the power somewhere because its hit or miss if it powers up the screen. When I look inside the guts while I'm trying to get it to start properly, Its starts and all the little whirly fans go, then 2 of them slow and stop (1 of them the power supply fan)...only when they stay going does the computer boot up properly. They never turn on when the computer is up and working, just on start up.
