The hose will not stay stretched out when i am using it. it is very annoying and takes a lot of strength to keep to stretched out
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your Dyson. Due to the machine's very powerful suction, it's normal to experience a certain amount of resistance from the hose in use. However, you may find that stretching out the hose to it's fullest extent with the machine switched off, while someone else holds the machine in place, helps loosen it up a little.
If you've tried this and are still concerned, please get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).
Best wishes,
Jack

Which model is it?
Hi, I just bought a Dyson last week and I already hate the thing. I am 60 years old and can not stretch the hose out unless the machine follows it around. Even when it does "stretch" it will almost jerk you backwards trying to dust with it. I've tried to stretch the thing out to loosen it up but that does no good. I looks to me like with so many people having problems with the hose you could do something about it. Could I take the hose off of my old vacuum and put it on it? I can't use the thing at all and for 500.00 I should be dancing with the thing.
Hi Joann, it's Jack at Dyson. I'm sorry you feel this way about your new Dyson vacuum's hose. We're keen to discuss your concerns, and would encourage you to email [email protected] with your contact details. One of our experts will reach out as soon as possible to provide further assistance.
Really clumsy design... all of the stretchy hoses on uprights do this. It would be better to have a hose that is already extended that you have to “scrunch” together to use the upright rather than stretch it out and have to fight the recoil!

SOURCE: Dyson Ball Vacuum
At the bottomor end of the wand there is a curve hose. That is removable. Pull the wand out all the way and turn that curved piece down. It slides out. There is a little channel. It should come right off. I've been there. Let me know if it helps.

SOURCE: Hose has suction but will not stretch when turned on
You're solution was no solution. If a coin or similar object was lodged in the hose, then there would be NO suction. Period. But there is suction, too much suction, that's the problem. So much suction that the hose cannot be extended. I'm so confused.
SOURCE: lack of suction in hose
That popping sound is the bleed valve activating - it indicates that there is a blockage in the machine somewhere, probably in the wand if you're saying that there is no suction in the wand.
- Take the wand off the back of the machine - press the two gray buttons to separate it from the hose - hold the wand in the air and look through it - if you can't see the light coming through the other side there's a blockage in the wand - taka a long object like a meytal hanger and remove the blockage.
If that's not the problem, call the Dyson helpline for further troubleshooting, they know what they're doing.
SOURCE: Replace dyson 07 animal brush roll assembley
The end caps of the brush assembly which contain the bearings are only a push fit onto the spindle (quite tight). Remove these and the brush bar will pass through the drive belt loop. To achieve this the belt has to be stretched slightly so care has to be taken not to over-stretch what might be a belt getting to the end of its life. When refitting the end caps do not forget to aline them properly so they fit into the sole plate recesses correctly.
I cannot see at the moment how to replace the drive belt on the DC 07 without significant dismantling (that will probably be my next job) I do not see the use of the Dyson tool you offered.
SOURCE: A Dyson dc 17 Animal and the wand/hose has lost suction
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine, switch it on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its good here, then you know that the wand handle is blocked.

Kind regards
