I have recently updated the driver for this card, but the drops still keep happening, and sometimes happen in rapid succession. Meaning, it will work for a while just fine, phantom disconnect, I get it running again, and it works for exactly 10 seconds, and phantom disconnects again, and when it is working again, it can last this way for hours, then just randomly decide to stop working. Looking at the Windows wireless connection applet, the card is sending packets out, as if nothing has happened. Receiving just sits there, though.

If you have just installed a clean version of XP onto your IBM T43, it will not have the IBM drivers or software needed to enable your wireless, Ethernet, or even the Fn buttons.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58597

The Above website is a link to IBM's Driver list. I would reccommend downloading, and then extracting, and running the extracted files, (which are usually stored in C:\DRIVERS
WIN... )

Audio v5.12.01.5300
Bluetooth v5.1.0.4700
Modem (If you want it) v7.34.00.00
CMD Ultra DMA IDE Driver (If you have a Dock station) v1.52
ThinkVantage Active Protection System (I would definitly add this) v1.70
TrackPoint only systems v4.69
UltraNav Driver v11.1.21.2
UltraNav Utility v2.11
Broadcom NetXtreme/NetLink Fast/Gigabit Ethernet v10.35.0.0
For your WIFI driver there are three, find out which one yours is then install one of the three drivers, sorry i cant get more specific on that.
Power Manager v1.64
ACPI Power Management v1.55
ThinkVantage Access Connections v5.33
ThinkVantage Fingerprint software v5.8.4.5476
Easyeject utility v2.38
Hotkey utility v2.23.0000
Keyboard Customizer v1.3.53.0
Scroll Lock Indicator v1.07
ATI Radeon/FireGL (Video Card Drivers and Software) v8.593.100.7-090929a
Presentation Director v2.57

Out of these the ones that make the FN button work are Presentation Directer, THEN Hot-key Utility. they must be installed in that order for ANY of the FN buttons to work.

Once they are installed if you install ThinkVantage Access Connections, it will work with the wifi and ethernet as well as the FN button.

Hope this helps

Press the "Fn" and "F5" key to turn your Bluetooth and wireless radios on.

PS: "Windows 2008"??? - Are you running server software on your T43? - you might want to check that...

SOURCE: IBM THINKPAD T43. I can find the switch for my ibm thinkpad T43

Are you sure you have a wire card installed? If so, then try this:

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
  2. Click the Hardware tab and press the Device Manager button. The network card should appear under Network Adapters.
Note: If the card has a exclamation mark over a yellow background, then this is an indication that the card is experiencing a problem. Go to Driver download step 5.
  1. Verify that the radio is enabled.
It is possible to disable the transmitter of the wireless card without Device Manager showing any problems.
Note: Follow the instructions provided to enable wireless card.
    • Most wireless cards will put an icon in the system tray (the line of icons in the lower right corner of your screen). Right click this icon and it may have a menu option to enable/turn on the wireless radio.
    • Some systems come with a Wireless Radio switch to disable the wireless radios. The wireless radio switch is usually located on the front side of the machine. If you are having difficulties with wireless connections, make sure the Wireless Radio switch is set in the On position.
      wirelessswitch.gif

  2. Check for association to an Access Point.
If you double-click the previously mentioned system tray icon, the configuration utility of the wireless card will appear. This utility will be able to show the status of the wireless card, showing what channel the card is using and what signal strength is being received. It may be difficult to maintain a connection if signal strength is low due to either interference or distance. For example, interference can be caused by 2.4GHz cordless phones, other Access Points in the area, and physical structures such as load bearing walls or metal partitions.
    Note:
The utility can be used to configure the wireless card settings, but if using Windows XP Zero Configuration or Access Connections, you will need to use those programs to actually configure the wireless card as they will overwrite the setting of the utility.

Audio driver ibm

Do a google search for: ibm thinkpad t43 drivers and it should bring up links to the ibm support/download site. Just make sure you know what OS you are running when you find the driver you are looking for. I had to do this for my t43 not too long ago after a hard drive replacement.

After I formatted the harddrive of IBM T43, I can't connect to the internet by wire or wireless and the wireless signal did not light up as well. I did install all the drivers recomended from Lenovo.com....

Setup your network settings, go to CONTROL PANEL- NETWORK SETUP. It will solved your network problems. Also see to it that your wifi connectivity is OFF when you're using your LAN, sometimes it has some conflicts on some Operating Systems.

IBM t43 fn f5 does not toggle wireless on. Reinstalled windows last week and wireless adapter is not recognized. I loaded proper drivers, but the adapter is not even seen by the operating system.

There are 2 wireless cards for this model. Be sure you have the correct one. Here is a link to download both of them: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-58597.html#wireless
