Does the Creature II Sub-woofer have an internal safety cutout switch?

The system has stopped powering up ie no green light. I was wondering before starting to look for issues - is ts there a safety cutouf inside the Subs casing that can be switched or is it obviously something more complicated? Does anyone know where the Creature II Service Manual can be found?

I looked and the only thing I could come up with is to e-mail JBL and order a new one. Radio shack, Best Buy, or Futurehsop might be able to help but you have to call them with the model number or go to the store and check it out. Here's the link to JBL if you want to order a new one.

Sorry, wish I had a better answer but there isn't much out there for this.

SOURCE: Sound problem with Creature II Woofer.

just increase subwoofer level located at the front. If it doesn't work then replace your woofer if it is in warranty period because it migth be due to internal electronic components failure.

Sub woofer not turning on

Is it receiving power? If not that is your answer - could be a blown fuse, bad wire, bad connection, etc.

If power is there and it still does not work then the problem coud be with a bad sub woofer on/off switch, internal fuse, or worse, blown amp from over driving.

JBL CREATURE II soundspeakers are dead without power

When the power to the system was applied to the speakers before you realized the cables were chewed, you blew some components in the power boards to the speakers. You could look to see if there are replaceable fuses. Otherwise a trip to the repair shop or new speakers.

Subwoofer is not playing

It is hard to say. The sub-woofer has its own amplifier, although it is supplied the sound data from the main amplifier. It could have a problem with the battery power circuit (Sub-Woofer Amplifier Connector Pin 6, LIGHT GREEN/VIOLET) or it could have a problem with the GROUND circuit (Pin 2, BLACK/LIGHT GREEN) Or it could possibly not be receiving the signal from the main amplifier (Pin 7, BROWN/ORANGE "+"), (Pin 8, RED/BLACK "-"). Or it could be that either the sub-woofer speaker is blown, or the sub-woofer amplifier is defective.
There is also a "High Audio Mute" circuit that connects between the main amplifier and the sub-woofer amplifier.

Hey there, I have JLB Creature II speakers, that have been working fine for nearly a year. Until one day, when the treble's maximum volume became a lot lower than before. The bass still rocks it up like...

Hi Nikita,

The problem may be with the internal electronics of these speakers, especially the sub-system that controls the treble. If they are still under warranty, you should talk to the dealer. If not, you should contact a technician.

Hope that helps,

Hi there , the green light just means its getting Power, it doesnt mean that its going to give sound, It could be that you dont have Drivers installed for your Sound card which is causing it too not get sound , but when it makes that static noise , its the Wire just causing Static with the Sub , just means its getting power , The + and - sign is the volume control ...Try see if you can turn it louder with the + . maybe it is low enough not too hear.....Hope this helped Bud
Happy new year.
