Problem with color quality - Canon PIXMA iP4000
i had this problem... its the ink! Check you are using magenta and NOT "photo magenta", and also that you are using "cyan" and NOT "PHOTO cyan"... basically photo cyan, photo magenta and photo yellow are not designed for the ip4000, if you check the smallprint on the box it does not list the ip4000.
This exact problem happened to me and it was driving me crazy. I think the "photo" versions of the inks are for printers that take two tanks of each colour, and the photo version is used for very subtle colours... so if you are ONLY using these inks, photos will appear washed out, yellow etc
I am printing on plain paper and my printer is set for plain paper. I have had the printer for a few years (4 maybe) and it will probably cost less to get a new printer instead of sending it in for repair.
I appreciate your suggestion, I'll keep it in mind for my home printer. This is my office printer and it works good for text which is its primary use. Thank you.
I have a very similar problem but for me it is the blue which appears to be two-toned and there are stripes appearing in the blocks of colour. For me this seems to have nothing to do with the paper type. I have the problem with photo paper and plain paper. I have tried deep cleans, normal cleans, auto realignment, and even physically cleaning the heads (though only very gently).
Any suggestions?????
