Hi Nancy,

Turn the printer OFF using the power button.
Open the front access door. The carriage moves to the far right side and Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
Press down on a cartridge to release it and Pull the cartridge toward you and out of its slot.

Hi there..
regarding with your concern its possible that the black ink wont recognize by your printer if you have already replace the black ink and still having the same problem then all i recommend to you is to go online and open this link

after following all the troubleshooting and still having the same problem then the ink carriage is the one that is causing the prob.. well in that case, theres no fix for that..you will need to get a new one or a replacement if your printer is still under warranty..

ink cartridge packaging is usually eay to remove. i suspect the gold tape is possibly the flexible pcb and Should NOT BE REMOVED. Tape to remove is usually orange and will be part unstuck to give somewhere to grab.

Lexmark has never approved the use of anyone else's ink for their printers primarily because there is no way to prove the quality of the ink.

Canon MP830 printing with interlacing shades of black

your printer cartridge or head unit ink channel (some of color or black ink channel) constipated, you may try:
1) if your ink cartridge is not new, take out the cartridge put the bottom surface touch cleaner liquid(special for ink printer) or water for 1 hr (you can see ink spread water), then set back and test. refill enough ink maybe necessary.
2) still trouble, you need clean print head ink channel to do same thing above, if your print head is separated from the cartridge.

Is the ink cartridge now unstuck? Are the cartridge ports free of any dried ink, etc. are new cartridges in place? Try turning your printer off for several minutes and then turning it back on. Let us know if this does not work.

I am in the same situation. When 'Check Ink' comes up, the yellow cartridge blinks. If I take it out and put it back again, the printer will work. Then after a while on idle mode, the problem will show up again. Pretty annoying.
