Anything that eats tapes means the take-up torque is low of stopping due to bad belts or a bad Idler system or even cracked tires. The transport have to be taken out and those parts replaced and then it will work again.

SOURCE: Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck

The cassette mechanism has a large gear that rotates to different positions for the different modes. On time around is a play - stop cycle. It is stuck in one position and won't come around to the stop spot. Need to take the cover off and help it to turn to get the cassette out. Then figure out if something is wrong preventing it from turning or if the wheel driving it is the problem. They are all a little different so this is where your mechanical apptitude comes in.
By the way, you'll figure out right away they don't intend these things to be fixed.
Hope Ya Fix It.

SOURCE: Cassette door won't open

IF it is a deck with " soft touch " controls, that is, you arent using the old press hard down " piano key" style, but NOT a pure touch switch activation, then chances are either the drive belt has slipped, the belt broke, or the motor died. If this is the case ( soft touch = yes ), then unplug the unit, pop the cover off. You should be able to see the mechanism. When you view the mechanism from the front ( the side you normally see when using the deck ), the shiny little silver post that pulls the tape through during normal play will turn counter colckwise ( the shiny post runs against a rubber wheel ( the pinch roller )). What you should try is , with the unit unplugged and the cover off, if you can get your fingers to the deck in question, find the flywheel, should be a larger disk with a belt around it. Carefully spin the flywheel with your finger so that it turns counter clockwise, if you were looking from the front of the unit. This should cycle the deck through its cycle until you hear a click. Try to open the door. If the door doesnt open, press the stop button WHILE turning the flywheel again. This should drop the head assy and disengage the door lock mechanism. Remember, make sure the deck is unplugged, and BE GENTLE. you may feel a little resistance as you turn the flywheel. A little is OK, just be careful. If the flywheel comes to a hard stop when you are turning it, then something is jammed and you need to take it to a repair shop. Good luck...Rob. In the future, please specify a make and model so we can better help you . Thanks !!!

I took my Pioneer SX-450 Receiver and Pioneer CT-1040W Tape Deck apart to move it. Put it back together. Now can't get a tape to play.

After putting a known good tape in the deck, push play, if the tape doesn't move, try rewind and FF. If nothing happens, the deck has a problem. I assume this is a cassette deck. If so, I always try the thrift stores for a new(used) one. There are good bargains there.

Pioneer CT-W208r won't eject tape.

These dual cassette decks were throw away units in most cases. The belt inside and the grease in the cam mechanism is in bad shape and the deck can not cycle through the steps it need to so as to reach stop. Only stop mode will allow the door block to release. The tape can safely be extracted by a Technician. The deck need work. Dual cassette decks are not always worn the repair cost.

Pioneer Stereo double cassette deck Ct-W302R - is it repairable?

They might be repairable but usually at a cost that exceeds it value. Who wants to pay $150 to fix what was known as a throw away tape deck? Not many. It might even exceed $150 as they are complicated to repair bot being designed to be repaired.

I need a complet set of belts for my Pioneer CT-W103 Double Cassette Deck.

Just measure the diameter of each belt (in mm) and then search with Google. Belts are generally not maker specfic.

I have a Stereo Double Cassette Deck; Pioneer CT-W404R. I've set the REV MODE switch; I've pressed the record button; I press playback and the tape for recording begins moving, but not the other tape. If I...

I was following instructions for "Recording." On the next page were instructions for "Tape Copying," though the first page began with, "Load a tape for recording in Deck II." That sounded like what I wanted. Anyway, that was my error.

Problem with deck B on Pioneer CT-W205R

Better tape decks, like Pioneer, may use a different mechanism for record/play than FF & REW. So it sounds like a belt or mechanical link for the REC/PLAY has failed.
