Goto your computer and click on start, the goto run, then type in ipconfig at the command prompt.

Write down the GATEWAY ip address as this is the Linksys router ip.

Now open up Internet explorer and type in the GATEWAY ip that you just wrote down.

You will be prompted with a username and pw screen/box. Factory default username is admin with pw is just blank(not the word blank but just nothing entered as the pw), or admin as the pw.

If you're lucky you should be able to manually configure the router without the config cd. If not, I have had this issue before and you will have to contact linksys for a replcement CD as some routers do require install cd since manual setup just doesn't work for some reason.

Next time get a belkin router since they don't need install cds

You can reset router to factory defualts by getting a paperclip and pusshing the small button located on the back of the unit for about 10 secs.

Cant find a strong enough connection

You need to buy a Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander to boost the signal
  • Move your wireless router to a central location in your network, keeping in mind that the router should be at waist level at the very least, not on the ground.

  • Plug in the Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander in the room where your wireless router is. You'll move the range expander later, but for setup purposes, it should be in the same location as your wireless router.
  • Press the Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander's "Auto Configuration" button for five seconds, which will allow the range expander to detect your wireless network and configure itself with the appropriate settings.
  • Unplug the Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander and relocate it to a location closer to the Xbox 360.
  • Ensure that the antenna for the Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander is pointing upward, and keep in mind that the higher the range expander is placed, the better performance you will get out of it.
  • Plug the Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander back in, and your wireless network should have a much greater range, ensuring that your Xbox 360 is able to maintain a good connection to the network.

Just to confirm you are using a wireless connection to hook up to the router? do you have the router model number? Have you configured the correct wireless settings on the 360? Make sure that if you have a key that you have entered it correctly. http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox/xboxlive/getconnected/setupahomenetwork/stepbystep.aspx
also you can use the xbox support site for reference, use the left side panel to look at wireless settings and other help.

How to connect to XboxLive via 1800HG 2WIRE+Linksys adaptor?

The easiest way to connect to Xbox Live without using your pc is to buy a
wireless network adapter for your Xbox.

You would then go into the system settings on the Xbox and configure the settings for your wireless network.

Cannot connect xbox 360 to wireless router

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

Opening the NAT connection for Xbox 360 working through 2 routers

    1. How do you connect your Linksys router to Belkin router? Do you connect your Linksys router to the Internet/WAN port of the Belkin?
    2. If so, what is the Internet connection type set in your Belkin router? Is it dynamic?
    3. If the Belkin router is set to dynamic IP and if it is obtaining an IP address from your Linksys router(you may check the status page of your Belkin router and look for IP address), then you may need to forward or set that IP address as the DMZ to your Linksys router. Make sure that XBOX is still configured as the DMZ host in your Belkin
    Hope this helps!

Xbox 360 live on wireless router

In theory you should be able to "share" your internet connection. I use a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and I have a Linksys Game adapter on my son's 360. He has not complained about lag or slow server times unless other intensive bandwidth is being used.

    Linksys wireless adapter

I don't believe so. Unfortunately, Microsoft built the OS in the XBOX 360 to only work with their hardware -- that includes the wireless adapter. Try a wireless bridge instead like the Linksys WGA54G.

    Hope this helps!
