Washing machine problem

The tub on my washing machine spins at the same time it is agitating. You can accually move the tub with your hand while it is stopped. I checked while in a store and I know it should not move. The tub is also able to be pushed from side to side and seems loose. This spinning at the same time pushes water out over the side of the tub onto the floor. We checked for a leak but couln't find any. The machine fills properly, and goes through the functions at the time it should as the position on the control knob indicates. It also drains on time and empties completely. I would appreciate any possible solution you may have. Thanks!

Patrich, basket spinning while agitating has to do with the brake system. You either have a broken brake spring, defective brake rotor, defective brake liner or warped stator. There are special tools needed to perform the repair as the spring is under a lot of pressure and could cause injury if not experienced. Catriver.

Maytag washer tub will not spin.

There is a clutch assembly under the tub that controls the tub and the agitator. It sounds like the problem is with that.

Loud noise from tub when on fast spin aquarius wma48 1400 spin

possible causes are
Overloaded Machine

Putting too many items in your washing machine at one time or washing larger items, such as a quilt, can cause your washing machine to occasionally make excessive noise. Laundry can get trapped around the agitator and will hamper its movement, causing it to work harder to spin. Stop the wash cycle and remove the excess laundry on top. Take big, bulky items to a laundromat or drycleaners to wash in an industrial machine equipped to handle such items. A washing machine is more effective at cleaning laundry when water and suds can surround the clothes and penetrate fabrics.
Defective Balancing System

GE washing machines have a balancing system that includes counterweights, springs and pistons that help to evenly distribute weight inside the wash tub. If any of the system's components break, it can interfere with the drum's rotation. Rather than spin evenly in the machine, the drum might be imbalanced up or down and produce a knocking sound. The noise might become louder and more persistent each time you do a wash load until you replace the faulty component.
Washing Machine Not on Level Surface

Place your washing machine on a flat surface, preferably a concrete slab. If the floor underneath the washing machine is sloped, even the slightest bit, it can cause the machine to vibrate when it spins and agitates. Place both hands on either side of the washing machine and try to move it. If the machine moves, then adjust its feet at each of the bottom four corners of the machine by tightening or loosening the bolts with a wrench until the machine is level on all four sides.

Make noise during wash cycle, has no agitator action and no spin during spin cycle/drain cycle

Looks like the bearings may have failed. TURN OFF the POWER and try and rotate the agitator/tub by hand. If it is jammed you should investigate why. Possibly caused by bearing failure or something wound around spindle.

Take care and do not attempt to investigate the problem without first disconnecting from the mains!
