I was using my remote controller in the morning and it worked fine then, but then in the afternoon it just stopped working, the batteries are ok, I even put in new ones just to be sure. The transmit light on the remote turns red whenever I push a button, and the lens on the tv is clean too. There was never any problem with changing channels to show possible dying batteries, when I tried to use it in the afternoon it just wouldn't work. I used both of the blue button settings (TV and DVD) when I was trying to change channels. Unplugging and replugging the TV didn't work. AndI can't flip through chapters while I'm watching DVD's either.

Earlier this year my remote stopped working for no reason. Did the usual - checked batteries and uplugged it for a few minutes. No difference. Took it to an authorized repair palce and they soldered the infrared connection. Worked fine until today, Dec. 7. Same deal. Tv hasn't been moved at all during this time. It cost $100 to have the soldering done the first time. Any suggestions? Will call the repair place to see if they guarantee their work, but that means getting a van and lugging the tv about 40 miles each way. HELP!

I have the same issue, tried turning everything on and off, the set works fine manually just not with remote. Bought a new factory direct remote of the same kind for this model, worked for 1/2 day then stopped working leading me to believe must be in the sensor, but can you even get replacement sensors for these? I use my celular camera to see if the remote bean is lighting and blinking (thast the white one in the front) if not the remote control is the problem. open the unit and observe for broquen parts or broken solders.....good luck...
Open up the remote carefully. Look for any dark areas of the circuit board where burning may have occurred. Get a stick of gum and using the foil, cover the circuit board, this should temporarily fix the remote but I'd suggest contacting your tv's company for a replacement.
I gave the same television/DVD combo to my mom for Christmas and she had the same problem. She found that the remote was EXTREMELY light sensitive. She lowered the wattage of her light bulbs to 25 over the kitchen table and kept the remote in the cabinet when not in use. This may sound ridiculous but it actually worked for her. I came on this site looking for a better answer to her problem and saw yours. Maybe it will help.
I bought a new remote from Toshiba. Checked it with my digital camera it was working fine. I ordered a receiver from Toshiba, soldered it onto the main board and it works like a new one. The receiver would only change state if I unplugged it for a while.
A new sensor is the answer.

At most Canadian Best Western hotels they have room set Tv remotes and they are such pieces of ****, they just barely work the maintenance guy says they are the biggest hassles the hotels have because no matter how much the company lodgeview says that there working they won't work for anyone who works there does anyone out there know what might be happening new batteries in stalled units cleaned inside no solder joints seem or appear to be cracked

Check that the remote is working. Do this by using a digital camera and point the sender at the lens . If it is working you will see a blue/red dot on the viewer screen. It will move when you move the remote. You cannot see the beam but the digital camera can and shows it up on the view finder.
It sound that your remote control need serivce. In most cases, claning it will rectfy the problem. You can get more details about how to reapair,test or clean the remote control by entering this site "Electro-help". Search for it in Google.

To confirmed if the remote control is working fine, aim the remote control sensor(IR emitter) directly to your cellphone camera. While pressing any button key on the remote control, you can see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control if it is working fine.
If you've confirmed that the remote control emitted an infrared but still the tv won't communicate with it, this is an indication of faulty IR sensor board of the TV. Check if there's an obstruction from the IR receiver in front. Keep away all of it, clean the plastic window of the IR receiver with soft clean cloth.
If the symptoms still persist, you have to replace the IR sensor board. Check the actual part no. of the board before ordering.

Both the older genie and a newer chamberlain (3-4 yrs old) both run on 390Mhz frequency. sounds like you will have to change your receivers on both operators (365LM 315Mhz) then get 3 button remote so you can program both doors on one remote.
Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn’t work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.
If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.
Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.
The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.
The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation / interference stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.
In your case the expansion of the wall in the afternoon may be enough to cause pressure on the wire to increase the problem – works in the morning but not the afternoon.
Also after you change the batteries you need to reprogram the remotes.
