2 x DIMM, max. 4GB, DDR2 667/533 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory
Dual channel memory architecture
**When installing total memory of 4GB capacity or more, WindowsR 32-bit operation system may only recognize less than 3GB. Hence, a total installed memory of less than 3GB is recommended.
It should specs say: • Supports Dual DDR II 533/667/800 - 2 DDRII DIMMs (240pin / 1.8V) - Supports a maximum memory size up to 2GB. Most systems will pick up the 4GB, but Windows 32Bit has a 3GB limitation.
make sure your memory meets these guide lines.
? 2 x 240-pin DDR2 DIMM socket support up to 16 GB* ? * (Due to the DRAM maximum size is 2GB at present, the memory maximum size we have tested is 4GB) ? Dual-channel DDR2 memory architecture ? Support DDR2 800/667/533/400 DDR2 SDRAM Due to the operating system limitation, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the reservation for system usage under Windows?32-bit OS. For Windows?64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU, there is no such limitation
which means win xp will only read 2gig and win vist/7 will read 4g so if you have 2x 2gig and only 1 is registering its working fine with win xp.

A 32bit OS and Processor is able to Identify and work with upto 3GB of memory. That may be the cause of the issue
Even if any computer has more then 3gb of ram it will showup only upto 3gb. if you install 4gb or more then also it will not show up.
.........and second reason, may the ram that you are using are not identical or one of them is not working properly.
Check the specifications of the ram and also try using one a time.
Before you install any extra memory, check the type of operating system and hardware you have and be sure it can address more than 4 Gb. 4Gb is XP's limit in 32 bit. Vista is pretty much the same and can address more but also only with a 64 bit system.
I don't think a difference of 133MHz of memory speed will make a difference in your gaming performance either way. Also, you won't be able to use more than 3.5GB of memory if you don't have a 64-bit operating system. Finally, it'll be a rare person who actually notices a difference in using 8GB vs 4GB of RAM. So, in conclusion, just buy 4GB of 800MHz RAM and spend your money and your time on a good graphics card, if gaming performance is your main concern.
