I have the following model of TV : Samsung LCD TV LE26R74BD Broadcast of MPEG-4 decoded digital TV signal started in my area but using the DTV menu of my device all in all that i can have is the sound of the specific digital broadcast. Is it because my TV device does not include an MPEG-4 decoder ? I can see/hear without any problem the MPEG-2 decoded broadcast in my area.

It does have a tuner built into it.

Hi,
this is a conventional NTSC analog television
receiver. It does not have "digital tuning". If you want to receiver
digital signals off-air with an antenna you will need to purchase the
digital adapter. If you are receiving your signal by cable you can
continue to receive just as in the past.
If you are concerned about the change in broadcast which suspends
analog signals from over-air transmission in Feb 2009, you will need
the converter only if you are receiving over-air via an antenna. If by
cable there will be no change (unless your cable company is doing
something on their own).

Seeing that you have a superior brand and not getting channels is a bummer. It may have to do with the setting, make sure you're set to cable rather antenna and then do a rescan. Btw, often times channels from an over the antenna is much clearer than from cable because cable tv has to compress the signal. If you're high in the air like the top floor of a building a cheap $10 will pull in great free digital channels. It helps to experiment and read the troubleshooting guide in your manual.
