As someone suggested the 3 10 volt 1000uF caps are bad. You can
indentify them because they're puffed up on the top and therefore
blown. Replace them withj a 25 volt cap 470uF or larger and away
you go. I did 4 of them in 3 hours. The case snaps apart
which is the hardest part. them remove all the screws you
can find, unplug the display from the board, remove the rest of the
screws holding the power supply board down, and look for the puffy
caps. Cahnge them and put everything back together and away you
go.

use the onboard graphics instead of a seperate graphics card (if installed) to test the screen.if it still doesn't work then unplug your monitor from the mains supply and plug in again to reset it. i doubt it's your monitor that is the problem though. but look on the back of your pc for another connection for your screen. the onboard graphics connection is normally vertical near your ethernet port and mouse and keyboard inputs.
please rate me and give me a fixya! if it helped.

It is probably the inverter which powers the backlight. It should say inverter right on it.

You may have failure in the power supply due to bad caps, bad inverter circuits such as shorted transistors, transformers, bad lamps. You need to open it up and make some measurement, see example of failed ACER monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
