It's likely that the cheap POS start switch under the button has fallen off the cheesy plastic mounting and the button isn't contacting it. Put it back so the ears on switch are under the slots in the panel and dab a TINY bit of super glue where the tabs go into the panel.

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. I can't seem to access any previous post dialog that may have taken place but I'd like to help if you can fill me in on whats taken place to this point. The scenario you describe is usually associated with a drain problem/back-up or overfill situation...if it is indeed the Viking (built by Asko) DFB450. I'll wait for you reply to see whats been done or suggested and checked to this point. Regards, Macmarkus :)

are you sure you have cleaned all the water outlets as when these get blocked and the water builds up the dishwash will go into a standby mode as a sefety precaution to stop your kitchen getting flooded if it was me i would take off all water outlet pipes and use boiling water and a good cleaning fluid it only takes a little blockage and then it will cut off so clean all pipes through properly and then try again is the water going into the dish washer before it cuts off or is their no water going into it either if you post back ill have a nother look for you hope this is some help i had same prob with mine but it was different brand of washer but after cleaning all pipes inlet and outlet it worked fine and is still working now use good limescale remover cause if you live in hard water area then this is probably you problem .......................................................

Please check the door switch in the first place , remove power to the washer and check the continuity of the switch , Now trace the wires to the main panel controller check on the connections on the main panels, check all the wires leading from the main panel to the valves, pump and the motor.
Once you have made sure that the connections are correct, then check the cycle/program as the washer is switched on.
The blinking is an error and is related to a processor resetting due to its failure or an input problem.
There are no controls active on the customer pad and so no reset is possible.
Remove the power and remove the controller unit , warm up the unit to clear off any moisture. Disconnect one by one the outputs , the valve, the pump, heater and the motor.
If the blinking is relative to a short then the related removal of wire to the circuit will bring back the controller to reset.
If none of these works the possible fault can be the controller unit.

you can hold the start atop button down for 5 seconds to re set it or you can turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher for 20 sec. That should help. If not, it probably is a bad celenoid which a repairman needs to replace
