Hi my G9 wont power up. I know its not from the loose screws issue. It happened after i tried to put thread locker on all screws inside. When i was reattaching the ccd sensor to the main board their was a bright flash and now it wont work. Bought a new main board straight from canon and it still doesnt work. Any help is appreciated thank you.
The reason it won't work is because when you went in to fix it, you shorted out the flash. That's what the flash was that you saw when you reconnected it to the main board. It's best not to open these and try to work on them yourself. There are steps to take when servicing electronics and it sounds like you forgot to drain the capacitor first. I'd suggest to go this site and see if they can help you www.camerasandparts.com They're very knowledgable with the Canon cameras and I'm sure they can get working just right again or maybe they can tell you the part you need to fix what you did when you were working on it.
If you go to this site www.camerasandparts.com they can help you with it. They have a complete no power service which will fix the power problem no matter what is causing it. It's $89 with camerasandparts.com and they include all of the service for the G9 at the same time, plus they cover the expedited shipping back. Great people and they are experts on these canons.

You likely have loose screws inside the camera which is a really common problem on these models. That's mostly often causes this no power thing on the G9 as it shorts something out inside of the camera. An excellent place to get the G9 repaired is camerasandparts.com They have service packages on their site and one of them is for the G9 with no power. That site is excellent for repairs on the Powershot cameras.

This sounds like the typical G9 no power loose screw scenario. This is really common on the G7 and the G9 model. The place for service on these is www.camerasandparts.com They only service the Canon Powershots and they are excellent for help with these. The nice thing with them is they do the fix to those internal screws so it doesn't re-occur on the camera. If you need help with a Powershot problem, they're the place. They have your Canon G9 no power service on their site. All the best looking after it, there great if you need help with one of these.
