I have a rheem classic quiet 80 . furnace starts up but the igniter will not kick in to start the flame

This problem can be one of two things:

1) Bad igniter.

2) Control board not sending 120 volts to igniter.

You will need a multimeter to verify if the igniter is receiving 120 volts.

I have a rudd hot air gas furnace, ignitor sparks

to carmelmontgo; do you have a smart gas valve sometimes the wire connections get loose. remove wire connector then reinstall. also cleaning a flame sensor will work if the flame sensor is good. I would check the ground connection sometimes contaminated with rust. also I would check the gas pressure with a gas manometer...my email is [email protected]

Bad fan switch. It may also be called a fan limit switch. If your furnace is less than 5 years old, the switch is part of the circuit board and you will need to replace the board.

We have a Rudd acheive 90 plus (11 years old) that fires but will not stay running. Any suggestions?

I have not worked on any Rudd 90s but in some furnaces a flame sensor on the opposite side from the igniter can get dirty. It looks like a 0.08 " wire sticking out of a ceramic holder.Cleaning the wire with scotchbright will often cure the problem . Good luck

My rheem quiet 80 ignition flame keep going out. it'll turn on and then go out.

I have a Rheem Classic 80 furnace that would ignite but not stay lit. Cleaned the ignition sensor which was easy to get to and the flame sensor which was under the burner plate and it fired up and stayed lit. The flame sensor was about 6" under the burner plate. Easy to get out, but tough to get back in. Used the old piece of paper shim trick to get the screw to "stick" in the socket and it was much easier to position the screw and get it back where it belonged.

Furnace sometimes will not stay lit

Check the heat exchanger for a crack or hole. The room air blower is blowing back into the heat exchanger extinguishing the flame. Have it checked out today. Did you get it checked yet? Now. Have I stressed to you to get it checked out yet or have you been overcome by Carbon Monoxide yet?
