Problems copying a folder

This depend on what are you using. Maybe it is not set to save a copy into the send folder.
Are you using a browser? Outlook? Outlook Express?

why not try it some other way? :-)

1. put the cd in the drive and go to My Computer and right-click on it & select the Open or Explore option. you should be able to see the contents of the drive and you can copy and paste wherever you lke.

2. if that does not work - create a temp folder on the desktop. now go to Start -> Run and type in"cmd" and hit <enter>.

now type in "C:\" and hit <enter>

if the cd drive in your computer is, say D drive - then type in "D:" and hit <enter>

you should be able to see the contents of the drive and use the "Copy" command to copy it to the temp folder in the desktop from where you can copy it to your daughters mp3 player.

Yes, Copy the files out in to a folder they should be a *.wav file which Windows media player will play. Once in a folder on your computer you can rename them if you want and then burn to a CD.

As from your question I can say that you are only using windows default copying service. First of all you must try copying the data using some third party softwares such as Ashampoo or Nero. You can try to burn a CD/DVD image with it or simply try to write data using these softwares. Dell has been suspected of having this problem in few cases, so DVD RW drive might also be faulty. You should Save all the emailed photos to a folder (pre created) on your desktop or any place where you will easily find that folder. Click on the PAPER CLIP on the email and choose SAVE AS .... Then "save as" to that folder which you have created. Sometime people "insert" pictures instead of attach them to email messages. Those "inserted" ones you ..... Right click on each of them and then choose COPY.... Then go to the folder you have created earlier and (on any clean space in there" right click and choose PASTE.
Once all that is done you go into the folder which you have created in the beginning. Go to EDIT at the top of the folder's menu. Choose SELECT ALL... then go to FILE on the top menu and choose (lower down) SENT TO and then in the next window that pops up you choose CD. Then a window will appear in the right bottom corner of your computer screen that says WRITE FILES TO CD.... Click on it and then of the menu on the left you must choose WRITE TO CD NOW... (something in that line) and it will (if you have a blank CD in the drive) start recording those pictures to the CD. REMEMBER a CD can only take 70 megabytes of data. So if you choose too many pictures it may tell you the DATA is too much to copy to the CD. a DVD can take over 4,000 megabyte of data ... So maybe rather use a blank DVD to do that

With Windows XP and a CD-recordable (CD–R) or CD–rewriteable (CD-RW) drive, you can copy data to a CD as easily as you used to copy to a floppy disk.
To copy files and folders to a CD
1.
Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder.

Open My Computer.
3.
Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD. To select more than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file,Copy this folder, or Copy the selected items.
If the files are located in My Pictures, under Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then skip to step 5.

In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click Copy.

In My Computer, double–click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear under Files Ready to be Written to the CD.

Under CD Writing Tasks, click Write these files to CD. Windows displays the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
Notes:
• Do not copy more files to the CD than it will hold. Standard CDs hold up to 650 megabytes (MB). High–capacity CDs hold up to 850 MB.
• Be sure that you have enough disk space on your hard disk to store the temporary files that are created during the CD writing process. For a standard CD, Windows reserves up to 700 MB of the available free space. For a high–capacity CD, Windows reserves up to 1 gigabyte (GB) of the available free space.
• After you copy files or folders to the CD, it is useful to view the CD to confirm that the files are copied. For more information, click Related Topics.

check the cd you are using for scratches, looks like a readom the cd error to me.
to solve:
copy cd using freeware program: imageburn,make an image of disk, burn it onto cd-r(your save-copy, legal)
try installing from copied version could work

else:
copy whole installation cd into sepearate folder and run installation from harddisk.

1) Insert a Blank CD-R into your CD Drive and push the button to close the door.
2) Wait a moment for the What do you want Windows to do? box. If
this box does not appear, you can open the Windows Explorer by
double-clicking the My Documents icon or the My Computer icon
on your Desktop.
3) When asked What do you want Windows to do?, click Open
writable CD folder using Windows Explorer.
4) Once the Windows Explorer opens, click on the link on the left that
says My Documents to get to your My Documents folder.
5) To copy everything in the My Documents folder to CD, click Edit
and then click Select All. All the folders and documents on the
right will be selected.
a) Note: If you only want to copy certain files/folders to CD, hold the Ctrl
key on your keyboard to select only the files / folders that you want to copy.
6) Once your files are selected, click Copy the selected items on the
task pane on the left side of the window. (If you do not see these
words on the left, click the Folders button once.)
7) When the Copy Items box appears, select the CD Drive (D:) and
click Copy.
8) Once the files are finished copying, you will see a balloon in the
bottom right corner of your screen saying that You have files
waiting to be written to the CD.
9) If you are only copying you’re My Documents folder to CD, you
can click that yellow balloon to complete the CD burning process.
Note: If you do not see that balloon, wait a few more moments. If you still
do not see it, click on the My Computer link on the task pane on the left,
then double-click the D: drive. Then proceed with the next step.
10) Clicking the balloon will bring you to the D: drive and you will see

the files you have copied under the Files Ready to Be Written to the CD section.
11) On the left, click Write these files to CD.
12) You will be asked to type a CD name. This simply gives the CD a name and is optional (16-
character limit).
13) Click Next.
14) When the CD Writing Wizard is complete, your CD will be ejected and you will see a box telling
you that you have successfully written the files to the CD. Click Finish.
15) To ensure that the files have been successfully written to the CD, insert the CD again and wait a
moment. The CD and its contents should appear on your screen after a few seconds.
You can continue to copy files to this CD until the CD is full. When the CD is full, you will be told so by
Windows. CD’s cannot be erased. Once a file is copied to a CD, it is permanently there.
The files that you have copied to CD are Read-Only. This means that you cannot make changes to a
file on the CD and save those changes directly back to the CD. If you want to change a file on the CD,
you must open the file, save it to your PC’s hard drive (My Documents or Desktop folders are
recommended), then follow the steps above to copy the file back to the CD, clicking Yes when asked if
you want to replace the file on the CD with the new one.

heelo, i think your cd is bad i.e. unreadable check the cd. and try again.

Try burning the CD by using a different software, like Nero or CloneCD...
