I have a 9112VUV Magic Chef wall oven #12609676QM. First it would not get hot inorder to cook. I replaced the igniter, thermostat and the dial switch. Now the oven gets exstremely hot. I can put on warm and it will reach 350 degrees. Always burning food. What could be causing this ?

Check each wire going to the igniter for opens. Test both ends for continuity.

If the igniter is glowing orange or has a bright spot and the rest is dull then replace it. If it is a bright yellow then it should be fine. If you get no glow at all you can check it for continuity. If there is no continuity then it is bad.

Since the bake burner does glow yet no flame that means that the igniter is weak and should replaced...the way the igniter works is that it comes on and get very hot where upon getting hot it draws a certain amount of amperage which will allow the gas valve to open resulting in a flame. The igniter is indeed coming on yet its not getting hot enough to draw the proper amp drqaw to open the gas valve...by replacing it with a new fresh igniter it will draw the correct amprage and let the gas flow.

I was unable to get the full model to come up. I was able to get a Magic chef range to come up. I would replace the control and oven thermostat.

Hi, It very well could be the ignitor. Sometimes they work at first and then will not open the gas valve later in cycle. You can set the oven to heat and watch the ignitor. If it glows and the gas will not ignite in 30 to 45 seconds, the igniter is getting weak. I jope this helps.

Pilotless ignition means that a hot surface ignitor lights the oven burner. It does take a little bit of time to light the burner. Maybe 30 seconds. If you want to make sure it lights take the bottom panel out from the oven and observe the hot surface glow and the burners light. No real danger as the gas valve will only open after the hot surface ignitor has satisfied the gas valve. Let me know how it goes. ken

I just had a model 976-4CX put in...I have no manual...I'm trying to find one. I thought I had a problem with the element, dial or thermostat. The bottom worked, but the top stopped working. There are 2 timers with dials next to the clock labeled Start and Stop, and Push for Manual. Come to find out my problem was solved by adjusting the Start and Stop dials and/or pushing in for manual!?!
If I had a manual I'd know how these timers worked.
