SOURCE: what is error 0xc05d1281
Apparently its a Ink System Failure. Here's an email thread for comment for HP C6180 with error 0xc05d1281 => http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/50063
It's posted somewhere in the middle of the thread.
Here's a solution to reset your printer to factory defaults without using your ink for recalibration.
1. Unplug the printer and wait 30 seconds for power to discharge.
2. Plug in the printer.
3. Hold the CANCEL and OK buttons simultaneously, and keep them depressed while you hit the ON button. This resets the printer.
4.
When the printer turns on, if you still get the error message, it's OK.
Then perform the steps listed above, starting with pressing the * and #
key.
5. After you perform the steps listed above, when you are at
the step at the end where you are pressing the cancel button until you
get to the WELCOME screen, if at some point you see a message,
“Inproper shutdown, hit OK”, go ahead and hit OK and the Welcome screen
should appear.
One thing that is nice about this method is that it doesn't use up all your ink doing a recalibration.

First, be certain there are no tiny pieces of paper in your printer, left from the paper jam.
Then, you need to reset your printer - try:
1. Unplug from the power cord.
2. Wait 30
seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more
times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power check the
functionality.
And, if the above doesn't fix:
1. Unplug the power cord from the back.
2. Wait for the
unit to go to the sleep mode. Wait for 60 seconds.
3. Press and hold Print
Photos & Photo Fix
buttons simultaneously on the control panel; keep them
pressed and reconnect the power cord.
4. Continue pressing
the buttons until the display goes blank or Reset shows on the control panel
display.
Good luck.

SOURCE: ink system failure, how do I reset the printer
Hello,
The ink system failure is caused by air in the ink feed tubes. This happens if you allow the ink to fully run out of the cartridge and it **** air in or if you use poorly filled refill cartridges that have air bubbles. To clear the error you will need to perform a purge on the ink lines to clear the air out. We have a step by step guide posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/hp-printer-repair/ The process will take about 10 minutes to finish but then you should have a fully functional printer again.
I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.
