What is the model number? Most of the Century 5 HP motors are 220 Volt single phase. What did you want to change it to?

Controller sensing wrong rotation of compressor. The 220 volt 1 Phase motor rotation can be changed. If this is a new compressor check to make sure all vacuum lines are tight and not cracked. The rotation error is caused by the lack of vacuum to the avpt transducer. The transducer may also be bad or not connected properly. check the connections to the transducer. Wiring and plastic vacuum line. If this is a unit that has had the motor replaced visually verify rotation of the motor. Rotation arrows should be on the unit. I believe rotation should be clock wise. If it is indeed motor rotation incorrect the motor tag should show the correct internal motor connections to make the motor rotation change> If not comfortable take it to a trusted motor shop.

The hook up diagram should be on the motor.

Single phase motor for 230V, connect T4 and T5, to one line. T2, T3, T8 common connected. T1 to other line. Check Rotation, This should be for CCW rotation facing output shaft. Swap T5 and T8 for CW rotation.

Your Craftsman model 919.165200, 5hp, 20 gallon compressor was designed to run on 115~120v 15amp. I believe that it was made by Campbell Hausfeld and is of the oilless single cylinder type. If however your compressor is oil lubed and has a motor /drive belt configuration it may be able to convert if there is a spec plate on the motor with alternate wiring diagram. Many high-end compressors like Rol Air, Jenny, Dewalt, etc with motor/belt drive have a switch selectable voltage, however one must still change the power cord when using 220v. A #10AWG wire can be use and 40Amp breaker can be use also. Your 5hp/230V/1/60hz motor amp is 30A.
