Hi
I am unable to start itunes as it links the strtup files are unable to link to the My music folder and exits after giving the error unable to find My Music folder.
I am still getting the same problem. It seems as if it is reading some link from the Windows registry. I also get a feeling that the new versions of s/w are some how not being able to overwrite some earlier files which the installation is referencing.
Thanks VijayHi
I have tried the 5 Rs quite a few times. No luck.

Have you tried The Famous 5 Ipod R's?
"
1. Reset your iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705 ), or iPod shuffle ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300595 ).
2. Retry your iPod with a different USB or FireWire port on your computer (please note that the latest iPods can only be synced through USB).
3. Restart your computer, and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.
4. Reinstall your iPod and iTunes software. You can download the latest versions of iPod Updater (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ ) and iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ) from our website.
5. Restore your iPod using the latest iPod Updater. Important: Please note that restoring (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983 ) an iPod will erase all songs and files on your iPod and restore it back to its original settings. Make a backup of any files on your iPod before restoring it. After restoring, you can transfer your music and files from your computer back to your iPod again.

do you have the the latest Itunes version for Nano http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
do you have CD's you wish to add to Nano use itunes do you have Mp3 files on laptop or PC Or are you using P2P software (Limewire, Frostwire or etc)
in any case if the Mp3 is on the Pc or laptop, using Itunes add files to the music folder... connect ipod to device using the white USB cord... wait for Itunes to find your ipod, now on the left hand side click on the top music folder (Pc) and drag it down to the other music folder (your Ipod).. wait for the update.... circular motion to stop.. eject the ipod from pc... plug in earphones and enjoy your music
iDevices (iPod, iPhone, etc) usually can only be managed through iTunes. So the first thing you should do is install iTunes (you can download it off Apple's website).
After installing iTunes and connecting your iPod, you must open My Computer then double click your iPod's icon. Then, click on Tools, Options, and in the View tab check the "Show hidden files and folders" option. You should then see an "iPod_Control" folder. Inside it there'll be a "Music" folder, with all your songs. Just drag them back to your computer.
But remember: you can only manage your iPod's music through iTunes. If you add or change songs on your iPod without using iTunes, these songs won't be recognized.
Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.
Totransfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need todownload software like TouchCopy.
Here is how to use TouchCopy
Download and Install TouchCopy. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop
Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer. TouchCopymay start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTuneswill not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.
Now select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want toselect all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left andclick on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar. In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars and notes.
Whenyou are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, useiTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content toit.
Hi, This ipod manage software can transfer the files from ipod to computer, computer to ipod, ipod to iTunes, ipod to iTunes, and iPod to iPod: please click here for more details. Hope this Helped!
your ipod won;t play videos. but to put files on it, mount it to itunes and when the iPod mounts you will see the picture of the nano. in that window click on manage music manually. now click on the music folder and it will open. in windows explorer open the file folder containing your music files. click on a song and drag n drop it into the left most column of the music listing window in itunes. it will load into you ipod. One thing you will have to remember, Ipods will not load incompatable music or other files. make sure your music is compatable.
first make sure that you have the latest itunes installed on your computer by going to this link http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
once you have installed itunes open the program and click on agree to the license, then plug to ipod into the computer, itunes will have all of the drivers need for it, then build your self a library of music, by either copying your cds over to itunes or going to File, add folder and select your music folder, it will make a copy of all of your music and the original music will stay where it is, then you can select your ipod by clicking on the ipods image and sync it from there.
As far as I have always known, you need to use iTunes in order to sync your music to the iPod. The firs thing you'll want to do is to make sure you know where all of your music files are located (i.e., the folders they are in). After you install iTunes, you will need to add your songs to the iTunes library. To do this, open iTunes, click on the 'File' tab at the top left, then click on 'Add Folder to Library.' Then proceed to finding your folder. It makes it a lot easier if you group them all together into one folder. This isn't necessary, but if you are short on time or impatient, it works wonders. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the files into the library. Just click a file or folder, drag it into the library space (the song list under music), and let go of the mouse button. After syncing your music to iTunes, connect your iPod and it should either connect right away or ask you if you want to update the firmware. If the latter appears, accept the update. Afterwards, if during the setup you decided to allow iTunes to manage your iPod's syncing options (advisable, though you can change it later if you decide against it), it automatically sync your music to the iPod. Also, for reference, whatever is in your iTunes library will be synced to your iPod. It creates a mirror image. The download for the iTunes setup is in the link below. Also on the page is a link to tutorials to show you how to make the most out of your music going experience. Have fun with your new iPod!
How To Fix The "Cannot Be Synced" -42 Error For 2nd Generation Nano?
Follow these simple steps (cannot be easier):
1.Plug in the ipod 2.Go to My Computer 3.Right Click the Ipod (F:) 4.Go to Properties 5.Click the "Tools" Tab 6.Click "Check Now" under Error Checking 7.After it's finished start itunes 8.Update Ipod once it shows up on itunes 9.It Works!
I know another way you could try formatting which may fix this problem. Restoreing just restores all the setting to your iPod yes it shoudl format as well but it may not due to an error or something.
To do try it another way follow these steps, first click on "Start" - "My Computer" look for you iPod when it's connect usually called "Removable Disk" once you've found it "Right-click" on it then click on "Format", once format is complete disconnect, then connect it again then run "Update" for your iPod and for iTunes, once you've done that have another attempt.
Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems leave a comment and i will get back to you.
