Akai LCT2060 I turn the power on, the blue light stays lit, but the screen lights up for 3 seconds and then the screen goes black. Is it the LCD power supply going into "Protect mode"?. Does it need to be replaced, where can I get one and can I do it myself?

This is a mean problem, and I feel for anyone who has it.

This can be caused by a bad power board, a bad main board or a lcd LCD panel.

An authorized repair shop would be able to substitute the main and power boards to find the source of the fault, but you don't have that luxury.

Unless you want to risk paying for an expensive part you don't need, I would suggest you take it to an Akai repair shop.

I recently bought a Hp Lcd w1907 Monitor off craigslist, the screen worked fine for about an hour then went black, button stays blue. Now every time I power on the monitor it stays lit for 3 seconds...

hi the cause is screen back light not working properly. you need to remove the back cover of the monitor to access the internal part of the monitor. then look for the connector of the cold cathode fluorescent tube back light going to the power inverter board of the back light you will noticed a dry joints which cause a loose connection that is why you hear a sound that cause of spark. you need to re soldered the connector or replaced if totally burned.

AKAI 20 INCH lcd MODEL #LCT2060

This is an indication that one of the components in the screen control sections has a thermal instability problem. This canusually be found using a product called cool mist which is a component cooling spray. This lowers the compenent temperature and allows you to see which component has the problem. Also you may want to if you are able try to use a voltmenter and a schematic to trace the problem down once you know which component is giving you the problem.
