NO IMAGES CAN BE SEEN THROUGH LENS????

I bought my camera over a year ago, so the warrenty has gone. But before i take it to be repaired i wondered if there was anything i could do to fix it. I turned it on last week, and the screen was red with streaks down it, and when u hold it up to the light, it changes colour. I can view old images on my memory card perfectly, and the settings screens are visible, i just cant seem to take a picture. Help!!!

I hope you still have this camera. This sounds like a defective Sony CCD issue. If so, Sony will fix your Minolta camera for free (with free shipping) regardless of warranty. You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going! See this link:

The Dimage models that Sony is accepting for the recall repair are:
Dimage 7HI, 7I, A1, Xi, F300, XT, X20, S414.

I dropped my Nikon Coolpix S220 and my lens is stuck. When I turn it on it has "lens error". Can someone please help me?!

I do not know how many times I've seen this question, and knowing that I asked this question so many times in the previous years, I know the answer now.

The thing is the lens are gone, nothing can really cure it unless you spend up to hundreds repairing it. If you still have the warranty, you can send it up to the manufacturers, but other than that, it's either a new camera or spending more getting it repaired.

I bought two nikon cameras, my first one got a bit of sand in it, I only took it out once at the beach, and what do you know it says lens error the next day. GONE. my SECOND one fell from about 2 feet-3 feet also, the lens were pushed in and it made an EH EH EH sound, as for all lens errors do. It was GONE.

My advice is to save up for a new camera , and get a SONY or CANON, or one w/out lense.

My camera won't turn on either....

Either the lens is out of alignment, or the CCD or worse has gone defective. Either way it sounds like it may be worth it to just purchase a new camera. You do always have the option of repair as well.
Thanks,

Nikon Coolpix S550 Lens Error.. Need fix without spending

No, even if you could find a lens for free this is not an easy camera to replace the lens on. Even a qualified tech would take up to an hour to replace. Understand that today's cameras low cost makes replacing the camera a better option than repairing a camera who's value used is less than the repair cost.

Ouch!
  1. Make sure lens is clean on both ends. Use a lens cleaner NOT glass cleaner & use a cleaning glasses cloth. No paper.
  2. If that does not solve problem you have moisture (condensation )on you image pickup. you can take lens off let camera air out place clean lent free towel over opening to keep particles out off camera.
  3. If that does not work you will have to have it cleaned by a repair shop.
Going from hot or clod environments or wet climates can cause moisture to gather on image sensor & inside camera always try to keep camera in a camera bag & avoid sudden temperature changes.

Images shoe up red

sounds like you might have an overheating CCD. Turn off the camera for couple of hours and when you try again if this happens again, return it to the store you got it from for warrenty repairs.
