I have been using my printer today and then it stopped printing and said unable to print. Refer to user guide under troubleshooting. I did this and i had two solutions, one to turn off printer for a few minutes. Tried this and still doesnt work. Other is that there is a mechanical fault. Any one know what this may be or how i can get it to work again??? Vicky

you need a new waist ink absorber box and have to do a reset. The absorber box can be purgchased from a service partner (see brother homepage of your country). Same procedure:

you have to rest the eeprom parameter, too
press menu then start bk-copy then fourtimes arrow-up quickly after another. machine will switch to maintenance mode. press by help of arrow up and set : 8 - 0. press start bk-copy til PURGE 64xx appears. press the sequence of 2 -7 -6 -3 (arrow up and set). PURGE will reset to 0000. press 9 - 9 to leave maintenance.

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.
This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart,
try this step by step.without missing any thing.
