Why 30 seconds after i tur my tv on it goes unfocusedand discolored?

Hi,
Its time to replace Lamp in tv as current lamp is near to an end of its life and causing this problem.
Lamp replacement is easy and user level job, procedure would be mentioned in user manual.
Please buy Sony original lamp for better picture quality.

It varies as to what is actually making the TV shut down. Shorting the connectors on the A.C. plug have nothing to do with it turning back on. Its just the fact you are unpugging it for a few moments.

helloFive blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

turn tv on picture comes up 2to3 seconds later tv blacks out then stand by red light flashes 4 times in a row repeatedly..can not turn on or off when stand by light starts flashing but before tv blacks out you can turn tv on and off repeatedly and picture and sound work.You have to unplug power cord for 30 seconds after stand by light comes on to get tv to turn on.

I have the same issue with mine and have a solution that sometimes works. I had a repair guy come to check it out and he powered off the TV so that the red light was no longer blinking, then he unplugged the TV for about 30 seconds or so and then plugged it back in. He then turned on the TV and it worked. He said it would cost about $400 to fix the issue (some circuit or something). I have since expeerienced the on/off problem (due to power outage) and now I cannot get the TV to work. But at least give this solution a try and please post to let me know if it worked or not. Sounds like power supply. Probably time for a new tv. You have already got almost 20 years service.

It sounds like the TV's Convergence Circuit has failed.First, try
to reset TV by unplugging TV from A/C source, for 2 to 5 minutes. Then plug TV back into outlet. Also, try the Magic Focus button on front of TV.
Still no work? To fix yourself call 1-800-458-6053 and ask for KIT 10. This will provide you with all the parts you will need. These are soldered in parts, or call an Authorized Service Center and have them give you a written estimate b4 repairs are performed. Cost? between $450 to 650 depending on your location and Service Center. Good Luck, big IRISH.
