Removing the chuck on a dewalt DC925 cordless drill.

I just changed the chuck on my 18 volt xrp half inch hammer drill,yes first you must remove the torx screw with #15 torx bit,note this is a left handed thread screw,knowing the bad chuck was bad I added some heat from a propane torch to the chuck then making sure it was in 1st gear i took some vise grips and the chuck is screwed on with normal right handed threads,it broke loose (was stubborn but needs a lot of torque )ahhhhhh wat a pain.

Some chucks are threadlocked but normally not with a massive amount. I assume you have the cutch set to the drill position and the gearbox set to the slower speed. If the clutch is set to drill and slipping I would suggest it needs attention. You may find the only way to remove the chuck in this situation is to dismantle the clutch and grip the output shaft from behind and unscrew the chuck. This may cause damage to the spindle so it depends on how much parts /repair cost you want to risk.

Thanks Stug_57u but I already took it to a Dewalt repair center and they replaced the chuck free of charge because it was still under warranty which I did not realize at the time I was trying to remove it.
