Try connecting it to a computer and then turning on the camera. For some reason that fixed it for mine.

Try this, it may or may not work. Insert the Video cable plug in and out of its slot a few times. The cable when inserted turns the screen off. But sometimes corrosion can build up on the internal plug switch, also causing the screen to turn off. Inserting and removing the cable a few times can sometimes knowck off this corrosion.

If the view finder is dim it is likely the iris of the lens is stuck and cannot acquire correct lighting. It need to be repaired by disassembling the lens.

My camcorder is not showing the image on the screen or in the view finder audio is recording

sounds like the Iris control motor is not opening the Iris.....it might be stuck closed or no power to the Iris control motor. when you switch to camera mode, look into the lens assembly, you can actually see if the Iris is opening...if you don't see any movement, then your problem is the Iris, if you do see the iris opening, then your problem might be more severe such as the camera module itself....what ever the case, your camera needs to be opened up for service.

Dvx100a showing black screens on lcd screen and view finder

You probably have the lens cap on, the iris dial closed, or you are in vcr mode rather than camera mode. You may also have the nd filter set to 1/64th, this is only for bright sunlight. When shooting indoors with low light, set the nd filter to off and hit the iris button until iris manual appears on the lcd, then dial the iris dial in front of the iris button up or down to bring the iris to around 5.6 f stop.

Nikon coolpix 5700 When switched on the view finder and the screen display information but no immage. In outher words the screen lights up but is blank. Please help.

The camera has a iris problem . The Iris of the lens maybe stuck up and is not opening due to which no image can be seen. Opening a Lens to fix that requires expertise. I would recommed to look for a repairman in your area

Need help urgently!!! GR-D22 not recording. I have a JVC GR-D22 Digital Video Camera (about 3 yr. old). It had been working fine. But recently it did not work anymore. The LCD screen is on, but a black...

There is a good chance that the iris is stuck shut. Try tapping the side of the camera lightly to try and release it. If the camera can show you old pictures that are currently stored correctly, I would suspect the iris.

No video

In camera mode if you look through the lens and have a black picture with the message lens cap on and you see that the iris is opening up and there are no bad connections to the ccd then the imager is suspect. Your snowy playback picture problem may just require a clearing however.

Kodak C643 black LCD

it is likely the Iris is stuck closed , maybe due to humidity.or the actuator that opens it is kaput.
it will have to be totally dissembled to get to the iris.
if you look into the lens and see the iris leafs you can verify that they stay closed.
