I have the CCD TRV57 Sony camcorder. Use it very infrequently. Lately, it started giving trouble. I replaced the small circular battery. I was able to record a few minutes. Then it started eating the tape so I kept trying different tapes. Not much help. Now there is no display on the LCD or view finder.
The shutter in front opens during Camera mode. The player works but I cant see any display in record mode (with AC or DC). Sometimes there's a clicking sound as though its trying to come up but nothing else.
Any advice will really help! Thanks.

If you mean the counter reset button, it's the third button on the top row sheltered behind the flip-out display. See the illustration on page 82 of the manual.

The camcorder might have CCD chip gone bad. Only way to repair is to replace the chip by trained technician. If it is under manufacturer's warranty, send it to Sony quick for repair. See also Sony's website if this model is under CCD advisory for free repair for out of manufacturer's warrnty products.
