When I put a CD into the holder, it pulls it in but tries to "Read" it. I hear clicking at regular intervals as though it is trying to read or recognize the CD but eventually shows "No Disk". This occurs with all of the disk trays. The display does recognize there is a disk and the display shows one in the correct tray.
Hello
The laser pickup unit's lens may be dirty or dusty. Just put a lens cleaning disc into the tray, and play it at least three times, by ejecting the disc each time, and reinsert in in to. The lens cleaning disc can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town, and won't cost more. If it dose not help you, the laser pickup unit of your RCA device should be replaced with same type and number. OK.

first basic step if u still haven't tried this yet is to turn the power button off then unplug the appliance then plug it again and turn the on the power button for the compact disc unit to initialized its program on its CPU and memory devices.
second step: if you can manage to open u'r mini component, check the mechanical moving parts of cd rack if there's any broken parts or missing parts.
third; if you still have the remote control try using it.
4rth; don't forcibly close it manually it will just worsen the problem. hope this tips help ;-)

This unit needs to be dis-assembled and the CD loading mechanism rebuilt. While a relatively straight-forward repair, this is not something to be attempted by an unexperienced individual. There should be no parts required for this repair, just the local labor rate.

Do you know by any chance if a CD might be stuck inside?
Does the device power up?
SOURCE: I have a rca rs
It two things can cause this:-
The motor is damaged ( you can listed closely to hear if the door motor runs when you try to open the tray.
Or The belt that takes power from motor to open mechanism is damaged.
