Monitor in sleep mode

My LCD monitor (x2gen) went into sleep mode and won't come out. At first the power light wouldn't even stay on. I would switch it off...turn it on... it would stay blue for a couple of seconds, then go amber (screen would be black). Now when I turn it on it goes blue, then after a couple of seconds the screen flashes "entering sleep mode" then the light goes to amber.

Any ideas?

The monitor costs about 100 bucks. The company is bankrupt. Chuck it and buy another.

The monitor is on protection.

Test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

The only solution I have found to work until next time you shut down or reboot is to open the menu, go to Tool Icon and press and hold Reset button for a few seconds. You may have to do this several times before it "takes". Sometimes you may have to press Auto and Reset simultaneously. It is probably not due to your computer, or cables, or connection, video adapter, or board.

My monitor won't come out of sleep mode

when the computer enter the sleep mode, it is possible that the computer remove the check mark from this output activation.

When you have multiple ouptut like a internal LCD and output on a monitor, when going into sleep then waked up, laptop reactivate the internal LCD without reactivated the secondary monitor.

you could need to go in desktop property and reactivate the secondary monitor with the check mark listed : Activate.

If you only have one monitor but still a dual output card or two separate video card same thing can happend. try to connect the monitor on the second VGA or HDMI output and see if the video goes there.

then reactivate your secondary output and make it principal.

Does also happend when your computer is connected to a UPS power and your monitor is directly on the sector. (laptop issu also)

if a brief power outage arrive then the monitor shut down (no power) and the computer continu, as there is no monitor on the output any more Windows will automatically deactivate this monitor. when power goes back, this output is no longuer providing video. I suggest putting the monitor on a UPS as well.

Forgetting that the computer was on, I went to turn it on and shut it off while in sleep mode. The screen won't work.

A monitor does not normally save any states such as sleep. If unplugging the monitor from the power source for ten to twenty minutes and re-plugging it in does not fix the problem check and see if the monitor's menu comes up.
Even in sleep mode, the menu for the monitor should show. If it does, try resetting the monitor to factory default settings. If the menu does not show up, then there is an issue with the monitor.

You should be able to just press the main system unit power button to wake up your 'sleeping' computer which will then resume your Windows desktop and bring you back to the Login panel if you have a password set for your account.

The monitor is going into sleep mode and not coming out easily or now at all. Yellow light is flashing and does not turn green. Started coming out of computer stand by with this issue a few weeks ago......

Sounds like the problem I'm having. Research uncovered a common problem with failed capacitirs on the power supply board. If you look at the tops of the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board and any of them is bulging, you've found the problem. Check out http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Repair-Kit-X2gen-MW22U-DCAC0006-LCD-Monitor-Capacitor-P1799919.aspx for replacement capacitor set.

Power turns off and on fr abour 5 minutes before finally staying

Hello,

This is a classic symptom of a failing power supply. After 2-3 years of use many LCD power supplies will start fail because of parts called capacitors that start dying due to the heat buildup in the monitor case. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. Check out this page on our web site; http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/ This article explains what capacitor are, how they fail and what you will need to get for the replacement parts. The parts can be ordered from many places on the internet, we stock they too. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service, that info can be found here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/

I hope this helps you, if so please rate our solution.

Screen goes black but power light stays on

Hello. I had the same problem with my X2gen 19" (model MW19R)monitor. In my case, the monitor would turn off after 20 seconds or so but the blue power light would stay on as well. I had to replace a high voltage capacitor located in the backlight power supply board. There are 4 blue capacitors on the board which are identical and they are marked as 27J 3KV. Fortunately, I only had to replace one of these capacitors ( it was turning a yellowish brownish color ). Hope this helps.

Try your monitor cable connections on both your pc and into your monitor.
Make sure they are TIGHT and level.

Also, it could be your video display card is faulty or your video display drivers are corrupt.

Try setting your desktop to a lower resolution, like 800x600 and see it that helps.
