I havent even played my xbox 360 today and i come to turn it on and it booted up normally for about 30 seconds then the screen went black and the two red lights started flashing
This problem may occur when the Xbox console is too hot or is overheating. The flashing lights mean that the internal temperature of your Xbox 360 console has exceeded acceptable temperature limits. Let your Xbox 360 console cool. You may have to wait several hours for your Xbox 360 console to cool enough. Don't turn on your Xbox 360 console when the console is hot.Verify that your Xbox 360 console has enough ventilation and that the fans are operating. If the two lights continue to flash red after you try steps 1 and 2, contact Xbox Customer Support.
Microsoft can be contacted by finding the number listed on the back of your video game booklets.

the 2 red lights only appear on the left side of the turn on for your xbox when you have played for a big amount of hours on your xbox i recommend not playing the system for a day so it allows it too cool down if you have this problem if it persist contact a support manager at Microsoft
The lights indicate the system has crashed. Most cases you have to send your 360 back to Microsoft to repair it. This happend to a few friends of mine when the systems first came out.
there are two posibilitys to your problem it could be either there is something unpluged in your 360 or your could have a virus you should take your 360 apart and check it if it is still under warrenty through microsoft you should send it in to them and let them fix it but if it is out of warrenty then you should get the tools at your nerest radio shack and take it apart and check it out and let me know what happens
well u could just try to recover ur gamertag
but i had somewhat the smae problem my 360 went to a black screen as soon as i turned it on and then it had a error code at the bottom while 1 red light flashed
call microsoft and told me they will fix it for free still havent sent it in thou -_-
where you put the cables for the sound and picture if you look on the end where you plug it into the xbox 360 you will see a little switch it has HD and TV on it depending on what your tv supports (HD ready TV) (normal TV) switch that switch to what TV you have (e.g. HD TV, switch the switch to HD) if that doesnt work then try checking that you have all the cables in the right ports if you have pluged the HD cables into a normal TV then this is not going to work, check cables and check the switch!
no red lights, no previous error msgs, and video output on the box has just died. playing halo yesterday and mid-game the colours went askew (like a green overlay) with horizontal banding, backing out to the dash solved nothing so after a reboot there was simply no video. troubleshooted the tv and cables and its definately the box. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=625804
