I have a Samsung DVD player with USB port and tried for a year off and on to get it to play a movie through the US port from a memory stick. It will rip a CD and put the MP3 on the memory stick, but that is not what I wanted it to do. It would find the video, but would not play it. Recently on a hunch, using "Freemake" I missed a political debate and wanted to watch it in living room. Downloaded the hour-long program from YouTube, and on a hunch saved it on a memory stick as "AVI" file, and chose the output resolution as "TV" (not HD). To my surprise it played beautifully. I have since downloaded a number of programs--some from video capture--and they all work the same. It has to he AVI and "TV Resolution." Any other resolution will not work. To play it, after inserting the memory stick, I select the Icon that looks like a reel of 8mm movie film. It then gives me the menu of what is on the memory stick. Hope this helps.
Are the movies inthe correct format for the player? If it does not register the USB drive, try it without a cable if one is used, and make sure contacts are clean. if it still does not register, the port cotroller may be dead.
