I just bought a used Pentax K1000 for a beginning photo class. Everything seems to work fine but the 50mm lens is stuck on the front. It was stored in a closet for 10+ years, but the inside is very clean and corrosion free. We had trouble getting the battery cover off the bottom but by removing the bottom plates and rotating from the inside we got it off and now it screws on/off freely. Is there something I can do to remove the lens or does it have to go to a camera repair shop?
SOURCE: Can't get my lense off!
You can use any mm lens you want as long as it was made to fit the K1000.
Is the lens a Pentax lens ?
Push the lens release button down and turn lens Clock-wise then while holding release button down quickly turn lens counter clock-wise, it should come right off.
If it did not then it must be disassembled to remove the lens.
SOURCE: What kind of battery does the pentax k1000 35mm SLR camera take?
Yes the K100 uses LR44 or G13. I would recommend the G13

SOURCE: pentax k1000 ....lens will not focus...(one
Try this first.
Set your lens focus to infinity and focus your screen at a far away object (like a distant lampost). If it,s not in focus, then you have a misaligned mirror. Adjust your mirror so that a infinity setting, the split-screen image merge well to form a well focussed image. Hope that helps.
