I own a emachine w3622 and changed the hard drive. The computer reconizes the new hard drive but when I go to use the operating system disk that came with my computer says disk boot failure. Not only that...

The disk that came with your system is a recovery disk only. You will need a full installation disk from your local retailer or you can match the OS from your old HDD and use the serial key on the side/back of your machine. If you just wanted more space, install both drives and set the original one as the boot drive. the new drive, if properly installed (refer to your hdd instructions and jumper settings) you will see the second drive under "My Computer" as additional storage

Restart the computer, while the computer is booting up hold the f8 key, you will then be prompted with a black and white screen that will have an option to boot in safe mode, select boot in safe mode, Once the safe mode desktop loads go to your user accounts and change the password.

HOW TO USE EMACHINES RECOVERY DISCS

Turn your computer on.
When you see "Press <BLAH> to enter BIOS SETUP mode", press the <BLAH> key.

Change the "boot-order" to select your CD/DVD drive as the "first" boot device.

Put the first recovery-disk into your CD/DVD drive.

Save-and-exit from BIOS SETUP.

Your computer will "boot" from the media in the CD/DVD drive, and thus will start the "recovery" process.

Restore emachine

Your machine has two ways of repair: SYSTEM RESTORE and SYSTEM RECOVERY. System restore is a Windows utility that rolls the machine back to a point where the machine worked before the problem. System recovery is an eMachines tool that puts the machine back the way it was when you first got it. Restore wont delete your data, recovery will and can. If the problem is catastrophic, and youve backed up your data off of the machine, use the recovery option. Your recovery partition (or a recovery disk) is needed to do this, and it involves pressing a key while the computer boots up. Check your documentation for your model of machine.

EMachine T3120 keeps rebooting

You can manually download drivers from eMachine's site: http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html

The operating system, you'll need a disk...and product key.

Sounds like a reformat may be your only option at this point. How far will the machine boot up? Can you boot up in safe mode?
